The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga has had a strong start to a new academic year.<\/p>\n

Fall 2016 enrollment at UTC grew by 1.3 percent, up to a total of 11,533 students. Graduate enrollment increased by 4.5 percent while undergraduate enrollment grew by 0.9 percent. At 2,080 students, freshman enrollment grew 11.5 percent.<\/p>\n

As UTC\u2019s enrollment climbs, the student profile continues to improve as well, with fall 2016 freshman coming to campus with record average ACT scores and high school GPAs. Fall 2016 freshmen have an average ACT score of 23.7, an increase from last year\u2019s average 23.4. The class\u2019s average high school GPA is 3.5, up from last year\u2019s 3.4.<\/p>\n

UTC has also again been ranked among the top Southern master\u2019s level universities in the 2016 U.S. News & World Report <\/em>Best Colleges rankings. UTC ranked 21st<\/sup> among public master\u2019s level universities in the South, up from last year\u2019s ranking of 24th<\/sup> in the same category.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur commitment to student success and high academic quality earn UTC a strong reputation among its peers and prospective students. I am pleased that UTC continues to be ranked among the best universities in our region,\u201d said UTC Chancellor Steven Angle<\/a>.<\/p>\n

U.S. News and World Report<\/em> also ranked UTC 36th<\/sup> among the Best Colleges for Veterans among Southern regional universities category. UTC ranked 46th<\/sup> in this category in 2015.<\/p>\n

UTC has opened an Office of Veteran and Military Student Services<\/a> to offer assistance to veterans and their families and an active Student Veterans Organization <\/a>has developed on campus. Additionally, the UTC College of Business<\/a> offers a Veteran\u2019s Entrepreneurship Program<\/a> to assist veterans who want to start their own businesses.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur faculty and staff are dedicated to providing a high quality educational experience for all students, and we are particularly honored to be recognized as an outstanding campus for veterans,\u201d said Chancellor Angle. \u201cWe have taken steps to better serve our veteran students and their families and to honor their service to our country.\u201d<\/p>\n

U.S. News and World Report\u2019s<\/em> annual college rankings compare colleges and universities based on a variety of categories including peer assessment, freshman retention rate, graduation rate, financial resources, and admissions selectivity.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
