{"id":1730,"date":"2009-08-28T14:07:45","date_gmt":"2009-08-28T19:07:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogarchive.utc.edu\/news\/?p=1730"},"modified":"2010-10-26T14:32:43","modified_gmt":"2010-10-26T18:32:43","slug":"department-of-chemistry-announces-2009-10-grote-scholars","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogarchive.utc.edu\/news\/2009\/08\/department-of-chemistry-announces-2009-10-grote-scholars\/","title":{"rendered":"Department of Chemistry announces 2009-10 Grote Scholars"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Department of Chemistry announces the 2009-2010 Grote Chemistry Scholars:  freshmen, Jonathan Chlarson, Joshua Justice, Scott McMahan; sophomores, Jordan Foutch, Grayson Golden, Zac Perry; juniors, Vijay Patel, Hitesh Vashi, Tyson Ward; and seniors, Marko Bajic, Jin Cheng, and Sean Dunn. <!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Each academic year, awards of $14,000 ($3,500 per year for four years) are presented to as many as three entering freshmen majoring in Chemistry. Scholarship awards are renewable over a four-year period and can be added to other University scholarships and the Tennessee Lottery scholarship.<\/p>\n<p>Grote Chemistry Scholarships are named in honor of Dr. Irvine W. Grote, who served as head of the department from 1941 to 1964.
