University of Tennessee at Chattanooga Chancellor Steven Angle issued a \u201ccall to arms\u201d today, urging everyone at the university to work together and create a plan to help students achieve their goals and be a productive member of society.<\/p>\n
In his annual State of the University speech, Angle focused on \u201cThe UTC Difference,\u201d the characteristics that make the school unique. Building upon those will propel UTC from good to great, he said.<\/p>\n
UTC must have \u201ca total focus on student learning, in the classroom, of course, but also in housing, student organizations, scholarship, in performances, in research, in athletics, in volunteering within the community, in internships, in every aspect of life related to our campus,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Collaboration between students, faculty and staff is imperative to reaching those goals, he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen a UTC graduate is asked if a collaborative learning experience made a difference, my hope is the response will be absolutely \u2018Yes,\u2019\u201d the chancellor said. \u201cThey were encouraged to explore areas that are less defined than in a traditional classroom lecture.\u201d<\/p>\n
The chancellor also said enrollment for Fall 2017 has increased and on-campus housing is full. Total enrollment head count rose to 11,586 students, while graduate enrollment is up 3.5 percent to 1,411, he said.<\/p>\n
