WUTC, FM 88.1, raised $120,727 in new pledged dollars to support its programming costs. <\/p>\n
\u201cWe are overjoyed,\u201d said Robin Higgins, head of the radio station\u2019s membership services. \u201cThis amount matches what we raised last fall. Once again, our dedicated listeners have made the effort to keep WUTC financially strong. Even though the economy is just starting to improve, we have had another fabulous response from our audience.\u201d<\/p>\n
Besides the need for programming dollars, this membership drive was significant for the radio station.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis was our 25th anniversary celebration,\u201d Higgins said. \u201cOur staff has been providing locally originated programming for 25 years from our studios on The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga campus.\u201d<\/p>\n
WUTC also announced plans to enhance its digital services.<\/p>\n
\u201cNext we are implementing the technology to make sure that WUTC can be heard on most any smart telephone technology. Over the next two years, WUTC will begin digitally broadcasting another two radio services. Soon there will be two more UTC digital streams.
