O&#8217;Brien Professor of Hebrew Scriptures at the University of Notre Dame, will present the first lecture \u201cThe Community in the Scrolls and Jesus&#8217;s First Followers\u201d on Wednesday, January 20, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the University Center, Raccoon Mountain Room.  This lecture will explain how the people described in the Dead Sea scrolls understood themselves as a community.<\/p>\n<p>VanderKam&#8217;s field of expertise is history and literature of Early Judaism and the Hebrew Scriptures. His research in the last 15 years has focused on the Dead Sea scrolls and related literature. He is a member of the editorial committee that is preparing the editions of the remaining unpublished scrolls.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDead Sea Scrolls and the Bible\u201d will be presented as a second lecture on Thursday, January 21, from 7 to 9 p.m. in Benwood Auditorium.<\/p>\n<p>This multi-media presentation provides an introduction to the Dead Sea scrolls and the people who owned and used them.
