Selection of presenters was a peer review process and the top 12 scores were chosen for podium presentation.<\/p>\n<p>Her presentation will focus on foot problems among homeless individuals. Foot ailments for that population are often attributed to extended exposure to environmental hazards, poor footwear, prolonged standing and walking, poorly attended foot hygiene, and repetitive trauma.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe first phase of my research begins with examining characteristics about homeless adults and their reasons of use of foot care services. The outcome of the research may help to identify predictors of health care use, specially foot care services, and factors that must be taken into consideration when designing innovative programs for this complex vulnerable population,\u201d said Muirhead.<\/p>\n<p>Muirhead has been a nurse for 30 years and an advance practice nurse for 20 years.
