Ellen J. Neufeldt has been chosen as the new president of California State University San Marcos and will take over in July. The university, which has more than 17,000 students, is located just north of San Diego and opened in 1979 as the North County satellite campus of San Diego State University.<\/p>\n
Neufeldt, the fourth president of Cal State San Marcos, worked at UTC from 2001 until 2005.<\/p>\n
\u201cDr. Neufeldt has been a visionary leader who has demonstrated a commitment to student success throughout her career,\u201d said California State University trustee Jean Picker Firstenberg, chair of the San Marcos search committee. \u201cShe brings a wealth of experience and will serve as an inspirational leader on the campus and in the community.\u201d<\/p>\n
Neufeldt earned a bachelor\u2019s degree in business administration and a master\u2019s in educational psychology and counselor education from Tennessee Technological University and a doctorate of education from the University of Tennessee Knoxville.<\/p>\n
Since 2011, she has served as vice president of student engagement and enrollment services for Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia. In that role, she leads the areas of student engagement, student success enrollment services, government relations, Institutional research, marketing and public relations.<\/p>\n
She also has served as vice president of student affairs at Salisbury University in Maryland.<\/p>\n
