Under a new agreement it will now be easier for students from Dalton State College to transfer to UTC and earn a bachelor\u2019s degree in engineering or computer science.<\/p>\n

The agreement between the two schools, signed Tuesday, March 26, streamlines the transfer process and ensures Dalton State students are taking the right courses to complete the degree at UTC.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are excited to finalize the transfer articulation agreement with Dalton State College, our first in the state of Georgia,\u201d said Daniel Pack, dean of the UTC College of Engineering and. Computer Science. \u201cThere is a growing demand for engineers and technologists in the region, and this agreement gives Dalton State students a clear path for transferring to UTC to complete their bachelor degrees in engineering, computer science and mechatronics.\u201d<\/p>\n

Dalton State already has a similar engineering pathway with other schools in the University System of Georgia, such as Georgia Tech and the University of Georgia, but those core requirements are different, said Randall Griffus, dean of Dalton State\u2019s School of Science, Technology and Mathematics.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur students can be confident the courses in this agreement will transfer to UTC and apply toward an engineering or computer science degree,\u201d Griffus said. \u201cAs long as the student maintains the required academic standards, they can be assured of acceptance into one of those programs.\u201d<\/p>\n

Having this option helps fulfill the needs of the local workforce.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is important we provide every opportunity possible for our students,\u201d said Pat Chute, provost and vice president for academic affairs at Dalton State. \u201cOur workforce needs students with these skills.\u201d<\/p>\n
