The Pre-AP Teacher Training Institute, offered this month through the University\u2019s Center for Professional Education (CPE), is in its first year of operation, showing high-school teachers how to prepare their students for college-level advanced placement courses.<\/p>\n
UTC is one of only eight colleges in the country to offer the institute, created by the College Board, a national nonprofit organization that helps high school students succeed in college.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are proud to serve as an instrumental partner for this curriculum launch,\u201d CPE Director John Freeze said. \u201cOur No. 1 goal is to create an engaging and supportive environment for teachers as they prepare their Pre-AP implementation.\u201d<\/p>\n
UTC has been endorsed by the College Board, allowing the University to play a role in providing professional development opportunities for advanced placement teachers in high schools across Tennessee and the Southeast.<\/p>\n
The Pre-AP Teacher Training Institute aligns with Tennessee\u2019s statewide initiative to improve the readiness of high school students who wish to enroll in advanced placement courses in college. Training teachers to help these students is the institute\u2019s primary goal.<\/p>\n
\u201cAt the end of the day, we want teachers walking away feeling confident and ready to tackle the upcoming school year,\u201d Freeze said.<\/p>\n
