The quilt was signed by dozens of faculty, students and staff across campus. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard where he was a quartermaster but spent the majority of his service as Coast Guard Honor Guard. In addition, computer science major Trevor Peyton was given the Sgt. David Alex Stephens Scholarship, which is awarded to a student veteran.
