<\/p>\nTwo new classes -one in the Department of Philosophy and Religion and the other in the Department of Communication- will be offered in Fall semester, 2010. <\/p>\n
Dr. William P. Harman will examine the seemingly inseparable tie between religion and violence, historical accounts of violence within and surrounding various religions and how religious violence has evolved and adapted to today\u2019s modern look on religious devotion.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis course will address the issues of how and why religion and violence seem to be closely associated in an interdependent relationship that is ancient and worldwide,\u201d says Harman.<\/p>\n
A newly created class offered by the Department of Communication is entitled \u201cAdvanced Radio Journalism Production.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cThis class will make excellent use of the WUTC facilities and use such facilities to help raise the students\u2019 levels of expertise to that of on-air quality,\u201d says Dr. John J. McCormack, station manager at WUTC-FM 88.1. WUTC is the public radio voice of the region and is licensed to the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. \u201cThis class will prepare the students for any sort of job in the field of radio production and at the very least will be an impeccable addition to an already outstanding portfolio.\u201d<\/p>\n
The main goal of the class will be to develop the skills to create news features that will be broadcast as segments on WUTC\u2019s \u201cAround and About.\u201d Assignments will include wrap- around news stories, man-on-the-street montages, six-minute news features, and an 18-minute news piece.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
