Monday, October 4, Adopt-A-Disability Simulation. <\/strong>Faculty, staff, administrators, and student leaders will be partnered with a student with a disability for part of the day to simulate the partnered disability. From 3-4 p.m., a debriefing will occur at the UTC University Center, Ocoee Room, to discuss the experience and future expectations.<\/p>\n <\/strong><\/p>\n Tuesday, October 12, 10 a.m.-1 p.m., Disability Fair, <\/strong>University Center Lobby. The Office for Students with Disabilities (OSD) will have tables set up in the UTC University Center lobby. Displays of assistive technology and modifications will demonstrate what\u2019s available for students registered with OSD. There will be simulation activities using some of these technologies.<\/p>\n <\/strong><\/p>\n Thursday, October 14, 11 a.m.-2 p.m., Permit to Empower, <\/strong>Cardiac Hill. <\/strong>Information on types of disabilities, accommodations, FAQs.\u00a0 Co-sponsor:\u00a0 Student Empowerment Association.<\/p>\n Monday, October 18, 10-11:30 a.m., Hangin\u2019 with Matt Glowacki <\/strong> –come rock climbing in the ARC with OSD\u2019s special guest for the day Matt Glowacki!\u00a0 Glowacki will also present \u201cDiversity according to SOUTH PARK and FAMILY GUY\u201d <\/strong>in the UC Auditorium from 3-4 p.m.<\/p>\n <\/strong><\/p>\n Glowacki was the owner of three successful businesses and represented his country at the Paralympic Games in Sydney, Australia in 2000. As a member of the United States Sit-Volleyball Team for eight years, he was bestowed with the honor of wearing his country\u2019s uniform. Not the military kind, but one that still allowed him to fight and represent what we believe in as a nation all round the world.<\/p>\n Born without legs, Glowacki lives the mantra, \u201cWalking is Over-Rated.\u201d The nature of his disability made him realize people\u2019s expectations for others are based on preconceived\u00a0 stereotypes, limited personal experiences, and prejudices.
