Pete Cooper, president of the Community Foundation of Greater Chattanooga, will be interviewed by Grant Law, prominent businessman and philanthropist, during the next Connor Society Conversation.\u00a0 The event will take place November 22 at 6 p.m. in the Chattanooga Room of the UTC University Center. \u00a0\u00a0The theme for the occasion, which is open to the public, is “Chattanooga: Challenges and Opportunities.”<\/p>\n
A Southern barbecue buffet will precede the conversation. The Connor Society was formed in 2003 to celebrate George Connor, the late Guerry Professor of English at UTC, by presenting programs in the areas of interest to which he dedicated his life. A lifelong resident of Chattanooga, he was keenly interested in bettering the community and took an active role in civic affairs.<\/p>\n
Past speakers in the Connor Lecture series include theologian and author Dr. Frederick Buechner, novelist and teacher Allen Wier, Shakespearean scholar Susan Willis and author and Episcopal priest Barbara Brown Taylor.<\/p>\n
