          Eighty-seven people whose lives touched the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga were remembered at Monday\u2019s annual Blue and Gold Memorial service in Patten Chapel on campus.<\/p>\n

          All 87 honorees\u2014former students, faculty, staff, retirees or alumni\u2014passed away in 2021, and the achievements and lasting contributions they made as members of the UTC family were recognized by University leaders.<\/p>\n

          UTC Chancellor Steven R. Angle and Assistant Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs and Dean of Students Jim Hicks spoke during the ceremony. Jason Leonard of University Ministries of Chattanooga delivered the invocation, and music was performed by pianist Helena Rosa and the UTC Chamber Singers.<\/p>\n

          \u201cThe Blue and Gold Memorial is our way of symbolizing that, while these members of our UTC community are no longer physically with us, they are permanently among us\u2014in our hearts, in our memories, in how we live our lives,\u201d Angle said in his remarks. \u201cOne by one, as their names are spoken, we recall the unique personalities and contributions of each person.<\/p>\n

          \u201cWe celebrate their incredible accomplishments and the way they helped move UTC forward. The recitation of their names signifies that they were and will always be part of our Mocs family.\u201d<\/p>\n

          Taylor Bradshaw, president of the UTC Student Government Association, recited the names of students who passed away in 2021. Faculty Senate President Tammy Garland recited faculty names, Assistant Vice Chancellor of Human Resources Laure Pou read staff and retiree names and UTC Alumni Board President Jay Dale read alumni names.<\/p>\n

          The memorial ceremony<\/a>, a University tradition since 2012, concluded with a candle lighting and a moment of silence.<\/p>\n
