10 a.m.-11 a.m.\u00a0\u00a0 \u2013 \u201cA Carolina Christmas from Biltomore Estate with Kathy Mattea\u201d– A Carolina Christmas is a festive celebration of holiday music featuring soloists and large ensembles performing sacred music of the season,\u00a0 African-American spirituals,\u00a0 Celtic Jigs with two-time Country Music Female Vocalist of the year Kathy Mattea.\u00a0 Joining Kathy will be the Carolinas\u2019 premiere vocal ensemble, VOX,\u00a0 as well as Baroque\/Celtic trio The Beggar Boys.<\/p>\n
11 a.m.-12 noon \u2013 An updated version of a public radio tradition hosted by NPR\u2019s Lisa Simeone.\u00a0 Master comedian Jonathan Winters presents a distinctive reading of Dickens\u2019 holiday classic,\u00a0with a special performing edition prepared by Dickens for his own presentations.\u00a0 Also featuring Mimi Kennedy.<\/p>\n
12 noon-2 p.m.\u00a0 — Christmas Jazz Treasures\u201d with Ken Dryden\u2013 Drawing from his extensive collection of jazz recordings,\u00a0 jazz journalist Ken Dryden will share some of his favorites of the season,\u00a0 not all of which will come from Christmas albums.\u00a0 Artists to be featured will include Duke Ellington,\u00a0Bill Evans,\u00a0 Dave Brubeck,\u00a0 Ella Fitzgerald,\u00a0 Joe Williams,\u00a0 Phil Woods and others.<\/p>\n
2 p.m.-3 p.m.– \u201cAll Songs Considered for the Holidays\u201d– Join jolly Santa Bob Boilen and his magical elves as they check their list for the best eclectic mix of Christmas tunes by emerging and break-out bands.\u00a0 This is the second \u201cAll Songs Considered\u201d holiday special from NPR music.<\/p>\n
3 p.m.-4 p.m. \u2013\u2013\u201cTinsel Tales:\u00a0 NPR Christmas Favorites\u201d– Lynn Neary features stories from the NPR archives that touch on the meaning of Christmas.\u00a0 David Sedaris,\u00a0 Bailey White,\u00a0 John Henry Faulk join other NPR voices telling stories of the season.<\/p>\n
4 p.m.-5 p.m. \u2013\u00a0 A Christmas Celtic Harvest hosted by Rabbit will feature traditional Celtic holiday songs and a few new tunes thrown in for good measure.<\/p>\n
5 p.m.-6 p.m.\u00a0 — \u00a0 \u201cAll Things Considered Weekend Edition\u201d<\/p>\n
6 p.m.-8 p.m. \u2013\u00a0\u201cA Prairie Home Companion with Garrison Keillor\u201d<\/p>\n
8 p.m.-9 p.m. \u2013 Jazz Piano Christmas XXI–\u00a0NPR Music is onstage again at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts for another live incarnation of one of our most popular programs.\u00a0 This year\u2019s Jazz Piano Christmas features jazz greats Monty Alexander,\u00a0 Helio Alves,\u00a0 Freddy Cole,\u00a0 Renee Rosnes and Jessica Williams.\u00a0 Felix Contreas hosts.<\/p>\n
