The revised spring calendar is posted below. Please make a note of these important dates.<\/p>\n

January 18 (Tuesday) – classes begin
\nJanuary 28 (Friday) – last day to change from credit to audit or audit to credit (contact the Records Office)
\nJanuary 30 (Sunday) – last day to register, add,\u00a0or change sections
\nJanuary 30 (Sunday) – last day to drop before a W is recorded
\nFebruary 28 – March 4 (Monday – Friday) – faculty notify students of mid-term grades
\nMarch\u00a013 (Sunday) – last day to drop classes
\nMarch 14 – 20 (Monday Sunday)\u00a0– spring break
\nApril 1 (Friday) – Fall Incompletes due
\nApril 22 (Friday) – spring holiday
\nApril 29 (Friday) – last day of classes for spring semester
\nApril 30, 2011 – May 5, 2011 (Saturday, Monday-Thursday) – final examinations
\nMay 7, 2011 (Saturday) – Commencement, 10:00 am
\nMay 9, 2011 @ noon (Monday) – grades due to records office from faculty<\/p>\n

Revised summer academic calendar<\/strong><\/p>\n

The new academic calendar reflects changes in our summer school schedule, which had previously been announced to faculty and are not associated with weather-related schedule changes. Working with the recommendation of a summer school task force, the Deans Council unanimously voted to overhaul the 2011 summer school schedule.<\/p>\n

Reorganization of summer school is being implemented based on two principles:<\/p>\n

1. Firm establishment of a student-centered focus to summer school programming<\/p>\n

2. Creation of an incentive-based financial model that will respond to student enrollment demand and will also reward departments for growing summer school enrollments<\/p>\n

Deans are now working with their respective department heads to modify accordingly specific course assignments for next summer. We will discontinue our current AM\/PM schedule and implement the following schedule beginning in Summer 2011:<\/p>\n

\u2022 Two consecutive six-week summer terms<\/strong><\/p>\n

o Summer 1- May 18-June 28<\/p>\n

o Summer 2- June 29-August 9<\/p>\n

\u2022 One 12 week summer term <\/strong><\/p>\n

o Summer 3- May 18- August 9<\/p>\n

<\/a>Freshman Success Seminars rescheduled<\/strong><\/p>\n

Freshman Success Seminars have been rescheduled for \u00a0Tuesday, January 19 and Wednesday, January\u00a020. They start at the top of the hour each hour from 9 a.m. with the last session starting at 5 p.m. in the Chattanooga Rooms of the University Center.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
