UTC is currently ranked in the top 20 graduate schools by <em>U.S. News and World Report<\/em>.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re setting very high, aspirational goals, but we\u2019re committed to doing the hard work to meet them,\u201d Dr. Roger Brown, UTC Chancellor, said.<\/p>\n<p>Changes to campus will include plans for increasing the number of students enrolled in the honors program, faculty compensation, and graduate programs.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese changes will improve the educational experience of our students and better prepare them for the workforce after graduation,\u201d Dr. Phil Oldham, Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, said.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, Chancellor Brown charged a task force with developing an action plan to assist the university as it aims for a spot in the top five.\u00a0 This plan includes accelerating\u00a0the university&#8217;s\u00a0strategic progress and\u00a0\u00a0building upon the university\u2019s unique identity.<\/p>\n<p>In a timeline presented to the UT Board of Trustees, Brown described benchmarks for progress in a comparison of UTC\u2019s rankings to those ranked in the top 10 and top 5 by <em>U.S. News and World Report<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Among the categories are: instructional expenditures per student; six-year graduation rate; student-to-faculty ratios; alumni giving rate.<\/p>\n<p>Brown said the goal is for UTC reach a top 10 ranking in five years and a top 5 ranking by 2021.<\/p>\n<div class=\"well\"><strong>Related Documents:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.utc.edu\/strategic-plan\/pdfs\/gap-analysis-presentation.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">Engaged in Excellence Presentation<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.utc.edu\/strategic-plan\/pdfs\/gap-analysis-handouts.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">Engaged in Excellence Appendices<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Building upon UTC\u2019s success as an engaged metropolitan university, The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga\u00a0aspires to become one of the top five public master\u2019s universities in the South.
