On April 7th<\/sup>, UTC will hold its third annual Research Day Celebration from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the UTC University Center. Faculty, graduate, and undergraduate students will be presenting research from a variety of topics including childhood autism, college athletics, adolescent behavior, and nursing education. This event is free and open to everyone.<\/p>\n

The celebration will include a poster presentation from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the UTC University Center Gallery. Light refreshments will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with oral presentations beginning at 1:00 p.m. and ending at 4:30 p.m. in the UTC University Center Chattanooga Room.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor the students, Research Day gives them a venue as budding scientists and scholars to show their work. This is the beginning of a career experience,\u201d Dr. Greg Heath, UTC Guerry Professor of Health and Human Performance and Assistant Provost for Research and Engagement, said. \u201cFor faculty, it\u2019s an opportunity to demonstrate to the university their research collaborations and scholarly work.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cResearch Day also showcases the collaborative research between our faculty and undergraduate and graduate students. It shows that wonderful mentors our faculty are,\u201d Meredith Perry, Director of the UTC Office of Sponsored Programs and Partnerships, said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are Chattanooga\u2019s university,\u201d Heath said. \u201cWe are a resource for the community. There\u2019s scholarly activity literally hundreds of yards away from where major commerce is conducted.
