\"UTCUTC Online has been upgraded, offering an improved way to deliver educational needs by strengthening communication between faculty and students.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis system creates a better avenue for communication that includes grades and email discussion, making virtual classroom space available for faculty and students,\u201d said Dr. Karen Adsit, director of the Grayson H. Walker Teaching Resource Center. \u201cStudents like this system, because it serves as a repository of documents. If they lose their syllabus, they can find it online. Grades are posted there\u2026 it helps them to manage their course load better.\u201d<\/p>\n

The system is also used for approved student and faculty groups to share information in a password protected, secure system.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe new features in UTC Online allow faculty more ease of use they did not have before, and may encourage more faculty to use the system,\u201d Adsit said.<\/p>\n

UTC Online currently uses software from Blackboard, Inc. as its course management system. In Fall 2005, the course management system was first installed on campus and was used in 1,123 courses or 46.00% of all classes offered for the semester. In Fall 2007, 1,354 courses used the system, or 46.43% of all classes offered.<\/p>\n
