The University High students, whose classes take place on the UTC campus where their school is headquartered, are enrolled in college-level courses taught by UTC faculty and directly supported by high school courses taught by HCS teachers.<\/p>\n<p>The pour-painting event was organized by UTC Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice Katelyn Hancock, who said representatives from various criminal justice and social service organizations in the Chattanooga community will be on hand to create their own unique canvas paintings.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI really believe in active learning, and I think allowing our students to teach high school students about ethics while also completing an experiential painting project is a great opportunity for all involved,\u201d Hancock said. \u201cI also wanted to link the gallery with community organizations to build a pathway from UTC to places that serve our community and places where our students may work upon graduation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m truly grateful to be given this opportunity and I am thrilled to show potential future Mocs how fun our programs are.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Cash donations for student paintings can be given in exchange for taking a painting, with all proceeds raised benefiting the Chattanooga Hamilton County Family Justice Center.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPouring for Purpose: Building Pathways to Ethics and Equity\u201d is sponsored by a High Impact Practices Grant from UTC\u2019s Walker Center for Teaching and Learning and a Professional Development Grant from UTC\u2019s Division of Access and Engagement.<\/p>\n<h4>Learn More<\/h4>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.utc.edu\/enrollment-management-and-student-affairs\/admissions\/visit\">Visit UTC<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.utc.edu\/arts-and-sciences\/social-cultural-and-justice-studies\/criminal-justice\">UTC Criminal Justice<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.utc.edu\/university-high\">University High<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.utc.edu\/apply\">How to apply<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Students from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga Criminal Justice program and University High students will soon collaborate for a pour-painting project and community gallery event.
