Prospective students can now build their future with a degree in construction management. The program,\u00a0entering its fourth year, is focused on providing a comprehensive and quality learning environment with scholarly and service activities to prepare students as professionals in construction who can plan, schedule, and build projects. The University will hold an information session about the program on Tuesday, August 16 from 4 to 6 p.m. in the Card Auditorium in the Engineering, Math, and Computer Science Building. This event is free and open to the public.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe purpose of this information session is to increase awareness about our Construction Management program and provide an environment where students can network with local construction company representatives and contractors to see the high demand for this major and learn more about job placement and other opportunities,\u201d said Dr. Neslihan Alp, Assistant Dean for Graduate Studies and Research, Department Head of Engineering Management and Technology, and UC Foundation Professor in the College of Engineering and Computer Science.<\/p>\n

A partnership with the UTC College of Engineering and Computer Science, Chattanooga State Community College, Cleveland State Community College, and the Associated General Contractors (AGC) of East Tennessee announced the establishment of the new degree program, which\u00a0began in fall 2008.<\/p>\n

The B.S. in Engineering Technology Management (ETM) with the concentration in Construction Management and M.S. in Engineering Management with the concentration in Construction Management at UTC will provide graduates with the knowledge, skills, and abilities that are valued and sought by the construction industry both locally and regionally. The Associated General Contractors (AGC) of East Tennessee, http:\/\/www.agcetn.org\/, is the major sponsor of this program.<\/p>\n

\u201cCurrently we have more than 70 undergraduate and 10 graduate students in the Construction Management program. I\u2019m very pleased with the high demand and interest in this program,\u201d Alp said.<\/p>\n

This B.S. degree program requires 127 hours and can be also taken as a 2+2 degree program with the Chattanooga State and Cleveland State Community Colleges. The M.S. degree program requires 33 hours.<\/p>\n
