Tickets are $20 for general admission and $15 for students (with proof of student ID) and seniors.<\/p>\n<p>The play\u2019s co-directors are UTC professors Gaye Jeffers and Steve Ray.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c\u2018Out at Sea\u2019 is an intriguing piece of theatre written by Poland\u2019s most well-known 20th-century playwright,\u201d Jeffers said. \u201cSlawomir Mrozek invites us into a comic world that exposes the truth about human nature, the election process and survival at sea\u2014all with an absurdist twist.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis play raises a lot of questions. What would you do if you were lost at sea with three strangers and all of the food supplies ran out? What does survival really mean? How much do you love beans? Can freedom be a legacy?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The 11-member cast includes the following UTC students (academic year\/major\/hometown):<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Maegan Whitlock (senior\/theatre\/Nolensville, Tennessee)<\/li>\n<li>Karlee Ming Jamieson (sophomore\/theatre\/Murfreesboro, Tennessee)<\/li>\n<li>Katie Forrester (junior\/theatre: acting\/Rocky Face, Georgia)<\/li>\n<li>Dauriya Derevyanko (senior\/theatre\/Chattanooga)<\/li>\n<li>Myrik Dunham (senior\/theatre\/Chapel Hill, Tennessee)<\/li>\n<li>Chava Foutch (junior\/criminal justice, theatre minor\/Maryville, Tennessee)<\/li>\n<li>Ella Witucki (freshman\/English: creative writing\/Maryville, Tennessee)<\/li>\n<li>Calista Geralds (senior\/theatre: acting\/Chattanooga)<\/li>\n<li>Harris Thompson (freshman\/theatre: directing\/Signal Mountain, Tennessee)<\/li>\n<li>Ashton Oppedisano (sophomore\/theatre education\/Ooltewah, Tennessee)<\/li>\n<li>Taylor Jones (junior\/theatre education\/Auburntown, Tennessee)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Other members of the production crew include stage manager Ellen Rich (sophomore\/theatre\/Hixson, Tennessee), Emma Hoffbauer (scenic design), Alex Miller-Long (lighting design) and Taylor Busch (costume design).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have taken this short absurdist play about elections, democracy and cannibalism and put a wacky twist on it that will probably surprise the audience whether they know the play or not,\u201d said Ray, head of the Department of Theatre and artistic director of the UTC Theatre Co. \u201cMy hope is that they laugh a lot and then go home and ruminate.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>For more information, visit the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.utc.edu\/arts-and-sciences\/theatre\/utc-theatre-co-productions\"><strong>UTC Theatre Co. page<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><em>Location<\/em><em>: The UTC Fine Arts Center is at the intersection of Dr. Roland Carter Street (formerly known as Vine Street) and Palmetto Street.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>An absurdist tale of survival and democratic decision-making is coming to the Fine Arts Center\u2019s Dorothy Hackett Ward Theatre stage.
