<\/strong>In the age of e-mail, text messages, and social media, handwritten letters are quickly becoming a dying art. In celebration of letter writing, the UTC Department of English and the Chattanooga Council of Teachers of English will host the Second Annual UTC Day on Letter Writing on Thursday, October 20 from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. This event is free and open to the public. <\/p>\n

Tables will be set up on the portico of Lupton Library with a variety of writing utensils includes, quill pens, ink, paper, pens, envelopes, and stamps for those who want to write and send letters.<\/p>\n

\u201cWriting letters by hand is becoming a thing of the past. We hope our celebration will remind the UTC community of the pleasures to be found in taking time to compose your thoughts, write them on nice paper, and send them to someone you care about,\u201d Dr. Susan North, Assistant Professor of English and Director of Composition, said.<\/p>\n

This celebration is in conjunction with the National Day on Letter Writing, sponsored by the National Council of Teachers of English.
