The University\u2019s Doctorate of Physical Therapy program (DPT) continues to gain recognition as graduating students have a 100% pass rate on the National Physical Therapy Examination (NPTE).<\/p>\n
\u201cOur faculty and students work very diligently to achieve a first-time taker pass rate on the NPTE that is higher than the national average \u2013 91% for 2011.\u00a0 We were fortunate that the graduating Class of 2011 achieved a 100% passing rate on the NPTE.\u00a0 Over the past 7 years, our graduates have achieved this level of performance 5 times,\u201d Dr. Randy Walker, Department Head of Physical Therapy and UC Foundation Professor, said.<\/p>\n
The NPTE measures the knowledge and skills required for safe and effective practice as an entry-level physical therapist or physical therapist assistant. The exam is administered by the Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe DPT program at UTC has earned a regional reputation for being a very strong program.\u00a0 Employers are quick to hire our graduates, and they consistently tell us that our graduates are very strong, competent professionals.\u00a0 Applications to the program from prospective students are up as is the quality of the applicant.\u00a0 For the class to enter fall 2012, we had over 300 applicants and the average GPA and GRE for the group admitted was 3.9 and 1210 respectively,\u201d Walker said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
