The Cress Gallery of Art is hosting \u201cOkay Mountain\u201d from Wednesday, February 8 to Tuesday, March 20. Blending humor with irony, Okay Mountain creates work that weaves an engaging yet dead serious commentary about our contemporary existence. In conjunction with this exhibition,\u00a0Okay Mountain will visit the campus and the Chattanooga community as part of the Diane Marek Visiting Artist Series February 6 – February 9.<\/p>\n

The Okay Mountain Artists\u2019 lecture will be held on Wednesday February 8, from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. The lecture will be followed by a public reception.<\/p>\n

These additional presentations in the Okay Mountain Marek Series are open to the campus and community free of charge:<\/p>\n

-Tuesday, February 7, 5:30 – 6:30 p.m, “Introducing Okay Mountain” in the UTC Fine Arts Center, room 356<\/p>\n

-Wednesday, Feb 8, 9 a.m. – 10:15 am, “Professionalism Panel (Life as an Artist)” in the UTC\u00a0 Fine Arts Center,\u00a0 room 356<\/p>\n

-Wednesday, Feb 8, 11 a.m. \u2013 noon, “Process and Materials Presentation” in the UTC Fine Arts Center, room 356<\/p>\n

Admission to the Cress and all its events are free and open to the public.<\/p>\n

Founded in 2006 in Austin, Texas, Okay Mountain draws upon the talents of nine members whose working locations span the continental US from Austin, Texas. (Sterling Allen, Nathan Green, Ryan Hennessee, Carlos Rosales-Silva, and Michael Sieben); Chicago, Illinois. (Josh Rios); Los Angeles, California. (Justin Goldwater); Santa Barbara, California. (Tim Brown); and Cambridge, Massachusetts (Peat Duggins).<\/p>\n

The exhibition will feature a recent retrospective of three large scale works in a range of media previously premiered at other locations, and a fourth work to be unveiled in the Cress.<\/p>\n

Gallery hours are from 9:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., Monday through Friday and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday and Sunday.<\/p>\n

Okay Mountain\u2019s exhibition is supported by The Friends of the Cress Gallery<\/em>.<\/p>\n
