\u201dIf you want to get involved, if you want to meet new people, you want to go to MOCS Camp to get a jump start on your college career,\u201d said Miles Ledford, Coordinator of Club Sports and Outdoor Programming.<\/p>\n
MOCS Camp, in its second year, began with an introduction to downtown Chattanooga. Students then had opportunities to shop at area malls, rock climb at Coolidge Park, visit the Bluff View Art District, tour the Chattanooga area and more, including a visit to the Tennessee Aquarium and a rafting trip down the mighty Ocoee River.<\/p>\n
MOCS Camp is facilitated by a group of upper class student leaders of religious, Greek, & student organizations. MOCS Camp participants have a one on one connection with these outstanding men and women.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is important for older UTC students to be engaged in the transition process because we can mentor so many incoming students through such little effort,\u201d said Bill Staley, MOCS Camp Counselor. \u201cJust by sitting down and having a conversation or going down river rapids makes the students feel apart of the great thing we’ve got going here at UTC. Being a MOCS Camp Counselor is one of those simple things one can do to make a huge impact in someone else’s college experience.\u201d<\/p>\n
Staley also has a little advice for upper class students who want to be counselors for MOCS Camp 09.<\/p>\n
\u201cGo on some campus rec trips, get on board with the new recreation facility, and be ready to \u2018Moc it out\u2019 next summer if you are selected to be one of the elite MOCS Camp Counselors,\u201d Staley said.<\/p>\n
