Head Volleyball Coach Lisa Rhodes was recently honored at a celebration of the 25th Anniversary of the Big South Conference when the UNC Asheville team she coached was named among 25 Best of the Best.<\/p>\n
With Rhodes as the head coach, the Bulldogs won three straight regular-season Big South Championships with tournament titles in 1991 and 1992. They compiled a 22-1 regular-season conference record during that span and a 29-2 mark including league tournament matches.<\/p>\n
In 1991, Rhodes guided UNC Asheville to the Big South title and the National Invitational Volleyball Championship in Dayton, Ohio; the first-ever postseason berth for a Big South volleyball team. In 1992, the Bulldogs set a school record with a 32-6 overall mark.<\/p>\n
\u201cI was truly honored to be included as one of the top 25 moments in Big South Conference history,\u201d Rhodes said. \u201cIt was an exciting, well-coordinated event. My time at UNC Asheville was very special with outstanding teams. Going through three seasons with just one Big South Conference loss was a great accomplishment.\u201d<\/p>\n
Rhodes, about to enter her 14th year at Chattanooga, earned a 97-79 coaching record at UNCA from 1989-93.<\/p>\n
