The Brainerd Kiwanis Youth Foundation has created a total of eight scholarships for UTC students. These scholarships will be awarded beginning this fall, with two scholarships added each fall semester over the next three years. The Brainerd Kiwanis Club Endowed Scholarship Fund intends for each recipient to be eligible to continue to receive the scholarship for four years of study. Chancellor Roger Brown recently addressed a Brainerd Kiwanis Club meeting.<\/p>\n
\u201cWith these scholarships, the Brainerd Kiwanis Club primarily seeks to support local student leaders who are committed to community service,\u201d Brown said. \u201cI can\u2019t think of a better way to encourage young students who are making a difference in their schools and in their city.\u201d<\/p>\n
Applicants and continuing recipients are required to have and maintain a 3.0 grade point average. If a recipient\u2019s GPA falls below 3.0, the student may have a grace period of one scholarship semester to bring their GPA back to 3.0 or above.<\/p>\n
\u201cThese scholarships are an investment in the future of our community, and a way to help UTC students to secure local jobs. With the expanded economic base, we will be able to do that,\u201d said Joe McCroskey, Brainerd Kiwanis Scholarship Committee member.<\/p>\n
