<\/strong>There\u2019s something for everyone this spring with the variety of concerts offered by the UTC Music Department.<\/p>\n

The UTC Music Department is pleased to present the Trumpet Ensemble<\/strong> and the Tuba\/Euphonium Ensemble<\/strong>, respectively directed by Dr. Erika Schafer, UTC Trumpet Instructor and Assistant Director of Bands, and Kenyon Wilson, UTC Associate Professor of Tuba\/Euphonium. The concert is at Cadek Recital Hall on Tuesday, April 3<\/strong>, at 7:30 p.m. The concert is presented free of charge and is open to the public.<\/p>\n

The program will feature \u201cTriskaidekaphile\u201d by Kenyon Wilson, James Grant\u2019s \u201ctba4tet I: Care to Dance?\u201d and \u201cBenediction\u201d by John Stevens. In addition, the Trumpet Ensemble will be performing several compositions, including \u201cIt Was a Lover and his Lasse\u201d by Thomas Morley, edited by Jay Lichtmann-Renaissance trio and, \u201cLe Rendez-vous de Chasse\u201d by Gioachino Rossini.<\/p>\n

Campus Composers<\/strong> will be a performance showcasing compositions by the young and talented musicians at UTC will take place in the Roland Hayes Concert Hall on Monday, April 5, <\/strong>at 7:30 p.m. The concert is presented free of charge and is open to the general public.<\/p>\n

The event, coordinated by Dr. Jonathan McNair, U.C. Foundation Associate Professor of Music, features students alternatively performing or conducting their own arrangements. \u201cTango\u201d by UTC student composer John Rose; \u201cIdeam Semplicum\u201d by Morgan Thomas; and \u201cNever Give All the Heart,\u201d which is a setting of poetry by W.B. Yeats for tenor, voice and piano by Casey Skyy Bigford will be featured in the event.<\/p>\n

Catch the Groove<\/strong>, directed by Dr. Monte Coulter, UTC Director of Percussion Studies, will take place in Roland Hayes Concert Hall on Monday, April 9<\/strong>, at 7:30 p.m. The concert is presented free of charge and is open to the public. The performance will showcase “Angels of the Apocalypse” by David Gillingham, “Street Talk” by Lynn Glassock, and “Chamber Music for Percussion Quintet” by Michael Colgrass.<\/p>\n

The UTC Jazz Band<\/strong> concert, directed by Schafer, will take place in Roland Hayes Concert Hall on Wednesday, April 18<\/strong> at 7:30 p.m. The concert is presented free of charge and is open to the public. With such classics as \u201cAin\u2019t That a Kick in the Head\u201d by Sammy Cahn and Jimmy Van Heusen, \u201cWhy Don\u2019t You Do Right?\u201d by Kansas Joe McCoy and \u201cSweet Georgia Brown\u201d by Ben Bernie, Maceo Pinkard and Kenneth Casey it will be an evening filled with the smooth, rough, soulful, and warm sounds of jazz that will entrance and titillate the senses.<\/p>\n
