{"id":666,"date":"2008-09-05T15:12:09","date_gmt":"2008-09-05T19:12:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.utc.edu\/Administration\/UniversityRelations\/news\/?p=297"},"modified":"2008-09-05T15:12:09","modified_gmt":"2008-09-05T19:12:09","slug":"record-enrollment-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogarchive.utc.edu\/news\/2008\/09\/record-enrollment-3\/","title":{"rendered":"Record enrollment"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A record number of students have chosen to attend one of the nation\u2019s top universities.<\/p>\n<p>For the third consecutive year, The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga has achieved record fall enrollment. The total number of students attending UTC this fall is 9,807, which represents a 2.61 percent increase over last year with growth in both undergraduate and graduate students.<\/p>\n<p>The campus also again saw a significant growth in freshman enrollment with 2,083 first-time students. This fall\u2019s freshman class has an average high school grade point average of 3.22 and average ACT score of 22.42, both figures up from last previous years.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am pleased that students and their families continue to see the great opportunities available here at UTC,\u201d said UTC Chancellor Roger Brown. \u201cI know that continued growth brings challenges, and I am thankful for the tremendous patience of students and the efforts of faculty and staff for the smooth start to this year.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Once again, UTC was ranked among the top Master\u2019s Level universities in the South by U.S. News and World Report. UTC ranked in the top 13 public universities in that same category.<a href=\"http:\/\/www.utc.edu\/Administration\/UniversityRelations\/news\/2008\/08\/22\/utc-ranked-among-the-best-universities-by-us-news-world-report-2\/\"><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A record number of students have chosen to attend one of the nation\u2019s top universities.
