Bob Corker; and Chattanooga Mayor Tim Kelly.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are delighted to welcome Charlie and Rick to the board,\u201d said Wade, who graduated from UTC in 2004 with a bachelor\u2019s degree in engineering management. \u201cCharlie has been instrumental in advancing CQC\u2019s mission, and Dr. Mukherjee brings critical expertise in quantum research and education. Their leadership will help position Chattanooga as a key player in the emerging quantum economy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mukherjee, <a href=\"https:\/\/blogarchive.utc.edu\/news\/2025\/01\/inaugural-utc-quantum-center-director-takes-office\/\"><strong>who began his role as UTC\u2019s Quantum Center director<\/strong><\/a> last Dec. 1, leads efforts to expand quantum research, workforce development and industry collaboration.<\/p>\n<p>UTC launched the Quantum Center in 2023, becoming the first university in the U.S. to connect to a commercially available quantum network\u2014created by EPB.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cQuantum technology has the potential to transform industries and open new opportunities for Chattanooga,\u201d Mukherjee said in the CQC announcement. \u201cI\u2019m excited to contribute to CQC\u2019s mission and strengthen the connection between UTC\u2019s quantum research and the broader ecosystem.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mukherjee holds graduate degrees from the University of Cambridge in England, Jacobs University in Bremen, Germany, and the Max Planck Institute for Physics of Complex Systems in Dresden, Germany. His previous research appointments included stints at Harvard University, Rice University, Imperial College London and the University of Hamburg in Germany.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chattanoogaquantum.com\/\"><strong>Chattanooga Quantum Collaborative<\/strong><\/a> was established to help prepare the region for the commercialization and use of quantum technology.
