<\/strong>Selections II: The UTC Permanent Collection of Art will be on exhibit through Friday, July 27, at the Cress Gallery of Art.\u00a0 Gallery summer hours are 9:30 a.m. \u2013 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.\u00a0 The Cress is closed on weekends.<\/p>\n

This exhibition will include works not previously on public view, according to Ruth Grover, Cress Gallery Director\/Curator.\u00a0 These works reflect the history of the Cress, the Department of Art, the University, the Chattanooga arts community, and they reference the history of modern art.<\/p>\n

\u201cComprised of paintings, drawings, prints, sculpture, ceramic, and mixed media works, this exhibition features artists with ties to the Southeast whose lives have had an impact upon the history of the University and Chattanooga’s arts culture,\u201d Grover explained.<\/p>\n

\u201cShroud for a Kalagari Prince\u201d (2006), the Permanent Collection\u2019s most recent acquisition, is included in the exhibition.\u00a0 The gift to the University\u2019s Collection came from the artist Bets Ramsey, a University of Chattanooga art alumna.<\/p>\n

Balancing the exhibition are works on paper by internationally known 20th<\/sup> century artists Robert Motherwell (American) and Patrick Heron (British), gifts to the University from the Ackerman Foundation 1980.<\/p>\n

The exhibition is open to the public; admission is free.<\/p>\n

The Cress is located in the lobby of the UTC Fine Arts Center, corner of Vine and Palmetto Streets.<\/p>\n
