Dr. John Friedl, who holds a joint UTC appointment as Professor of Political Science and Professor of Accounting, will address 550 graduates on Sunday, December 14, at 2 p.m., in McKenzie Arena.<\/p>\n
Friedl teaches Constitutional Law, Civil Liberties, First Amendment, Mass Communication Law, and Business Law.\u00a0 He earned a B.A. (with honors), M.A. and Ph.D. in cultural anthropology from the University of California at Berkeley, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. He also holds a Master of Public Health degree from the University of Michigan School of Public Health and a J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School, where he served on the editorial board of the Michigan Law Review and was elected to the Order of the Coif law honorary society.<\/p>\n
He has published widely in the fields of anthropology, public health, and law.<\/p>\n
From 2002-2006, Friedl served as Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs. He returned to full-time teaching in 2006. He has served as a Fellow with the American Council on Education and was a Visiting Fellow with the National Cancer Institute. He is also a recipient of a Career Professional Development Award from the National Science Foundation.<\/p>\n
Earlier this year, Friedl was honored as a Teacher of the Year by the University of Tennessee Alumni Association. He currently serves on the board of directors of several civic organizations in Chattanooga.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
