David A. Stephens Memorial Scholarship Fund. The goal of this scholarship is to help ease the financial burden for a veteran in pursuit of higher education, according to Dickerson and Barry Bookheimer, Race Director.<\/p>\n<p>Sergeant David \u201cAlex\u201d Stephens, a UTC alumnus, was killed in a roadside bombing in Afghanistan on April 12, 2007. Stephens volunteered in the army as a combat medic because he wanted to help soldiers on the battlefield.
