Beta Alpha Psi recognizes academic excellence and complements members\u2019 formal education by providing interaction and networking among students, faculty and professionals.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"img_right smaller\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.utc.edu\/Administration\/UniversityRelations\/news\/images\/DecosimoWillis.jpg\" alt=\"Marilyn Willis and Rose Decosimo\" style=\"max-width: 100%;\"style=\"max-width: 100%;\"\/><br \/>\nDr. Marilyn Willis and her former student, Rose Decosimo.<br \/>\n(Photo by Philip Witt)<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u201cMs. Decosimo is being recognized for her many years of service to the accounting profession as well as her exemplary dedication to and promotion of the Chattanooga community,\u201d said Dr. Stan Davis, Guerry Associate Professor of Accounting and Head of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.utc.edu\/Business\/\">Departments of Accounting and Finance<\/a>. \u201cShe has been involved in local professional and civic organizations since joining Joseph Decosimo &amp; Company almost 20 years ago.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Decosimo received a bachelor\u2019s degree in nursing from the University of Tennessee and worked for several years as a registered nurse in San Francisco and Chattanooga.\u00a0 In 1988, she earned her MBA with an emphasis in accounting from UTC.<\/p>\n<p>For two decades, Decosimo has worked as a Certified Public Accountant.\u00a0 She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Tennessee Society of Certified Public Accountants, Institute of Internal Auditors, and the Leadership Chattanooga Alumni Association.\u00a0 She also is an active member of the Signal Mountain Presbyterian Church, the Mountain City Club, Rotary Club, and the Women\u2019s Leadership Institute.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to serving as a volunteer at the Ronald McDonald House, Decosimo serves on the boards of the Siskin Hospital for Physical Rehabilitation, Youth Leadership Chattanooga, WTCI Community Advisory Board (chairperson), Chattanooga Girls Leadership Academy charter school, and Young Women\u2019s Leadership Academy Foundation.
