The UTC Department of Music offers a variety of terrific musical events in the coming weeks:<\/b><\/p>\n

Celebrate music from the British Invasion April 5<\/b><\/p>\n

The UTC Music Department invites you to celebrate the music of the British Invasion with a night of music known as \u201cThe Living Years,\u201d featuring The Chattanooga Boys Choir, Vincent Oakes, Director, and The Pool\u2014Michael Welch, guitar and vocals, Nick Honerkamp, bass and vocals, Dave Cornwell, guitar, keyboard and vocals and Monte Coulter, drums and vocals on Friday, April 5, at 7:30 at the Roland Hayes Concert Hall.\u00a0 Admission is free.<\/p>\n

This unforgettable music of the 60s, 70s and 80s will include hits by The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Manfred Mann, The Who, Mike + the Mechanics and many others.<\/p>\n

Catch the Groove on April 8<\/b><\/p>\n

The UTC Music Department invites you Catch the Groove with the UTC Percussion Ensemble, directed by Dr. Monte Coulter, on Monday, April 8 at 7:30 p.m. at the Roland Hayes Concert Hall, UTC Fine Arts Center.<\/p>\n

This performance is presented free of charge and it is open to the public.<\/p>\n

This traditional spring concert will consist of newer works and more established works in the percussion ensemble idiom, including; De Ponte\u2019s \u201cCelebration and Chorale,\u201d Combs \u201cAntiphon\u201d and Zivkovic\u2019s \u201cTrio per Uno,\u201d an un-conducted piece which treats the large concert bass drum as a centerpiece.<\/p>\n

Choral Concert set for April 9<\/b><\/p>\n

The UTC Music Department is pleased to present The Chattanooga Singers, Women\u2019s Chorale and Men\u2019s Chorus, conducted by J. Kevin Ford, Lee Harris and Gerald Peel, respectively, on Tuesday, April 9, at 7:30 p.m. at the Roland Hayes Concert Hall.<\/p>\n

Graduate Student Julie Drexler will assist with the Chattanooga Singers.<\/p>\n

The performance is presented free of charge and it is open to the public.<\/p>\n

Highlights include\u00a0 Knut Nystedt’s \u201cBe Not Afraid,\u201d Aaron Copland’s \u201cChing-A-Ring-Chaw,\u201d James McCray’s \u201cRise Up My Love My Fair One\u201d\u00a0featuring flutist Corey Honeycutt, \u201cOrpheus with His Lute\u201d by Ralph Vaughn Williams, \u201cSongbird\u201d by Christine McVie, \u201cBumble Bee\u201d by Anders Endenroth, \u201cPlenty Good Room\u201d arranged by Roland Carter, and \u201cThe Water is Wide\u201d by Miles Ramsay.<\/p>\n

Ensembles to play April 15, 16, 17<\/b><\/p>\n

Gordon James will direct the Brass & Horn Quintets on Monday, April 15, 7:30 p.m. at Cadek Hall.\u00a0 Free admission, no ticket required.<\/p>\n

The Trumpet Ensemble, Trombone Ensemble and Tuba\/Euphonium Quartet will perform Tuesday, April 16 at 7:30 p.m. at the Roland Hayes Concert Hall.\u00a0 Erika Schafer and Kenyon Wilson will direct.\u00a0 Free admission, no ticket required.<\/p>\n

Robert Dean will direct the UTC Wind Ensemble on Wednesday, April 17 at 7:30 p.m. in the Roland Hayes Concert Hall.\u00a0 Free admission, no ticket required.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Roland Carter Gala Concert<\/b><\/p>\n

The Roland Carter Gala Concert to celebrate his 46-year career will be held at First Baptist Church, 401 Gateway Ave., Chattanooga, at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, April 19.<\/p>\n

Due to the expected large turnout for this event, an admission ticket will be required.\u00a0 Please check the UTC Department of Music online<\/a> for further information regarding tickets for this event.<\/p>\n
