Max Fuller, <\/b>Chairman and CEO of U.S. Xpress Enterprises, Inc., was honored as the 2013 recipient of the UTC Distinguished Alumnus award. A native of Athens, Tennessee, Fuller graduated from The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga in 1975 with a B.A. degree in Finance and Business Administration.<\/p>\n

Max Fuller and family<\/p><\/div>\n

In 1985, Fuller and a business partner formed U.S. Express, Inc. with 45 trucks.\u00a0 With their leadership and experience, U.S. Xpress has been recognized as a service, safety and technology leader in the trucking industry\u2014the company earned an award for innovation from the Smithsonian Institute in 2000. The company was the 2002 winner of the Kruesi Award for the Spirit of Innovation and the winner of the Quest for Quality award from Logistics Management & Distribution Magazine for five consecutive years.<\/p>\n

In March, 2012 the company was named as Truckload Carrier of the Year by the National Shippers Strategic Transportation Council and in June Food Logistics Magazine named U.S. Xpress as a Top Green Provider.\u00a0 Inbound Logistics<\/i>, as part of its G75 Green Supply Chain Partners list, prominently featured U.S. Xpress with some of the innovations the company has developed for achieving better fuel efficiency, including the research U.S. Xpress has conducted in partnership with the SimCenter National Center for Computational Engineering at The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.<\/p>\n

U.S. Xpress currently has over 1,000 employees in the Chattanooga area and over 10,000 nationwide. Over the last few years, the company has extended its reach into Mexico with ownership of two operations providing various transportation and logistics services.<\/p>\n

Fuller serves on the Board of Directors of SunTrust Bank, Chattanooga, N.A. \u00a0He received a Congressional appointment to serve on the Board of Directors for the Enterprise Center in Chattanooga. He is a past member of the Chancellor\u2019s Round Table at The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and currently serves as a member of the Board of Trustees for the University of Chattanooga Foundation. He was inducted into The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga Entrepreneurship Hall of Fame in 2013.<\/p>\n

Dr. Bill Stacy and his wife, Dr. Sue Stacy<\/b>, are the 2013 recipients of the UTC Outstanding Service Award.<\/p>\n

Dr. Bill Stacy and Dr. Sue Stacy<\/p><\/div>\n

They came to Chattanooga in 1997 when he was named the Chancellor of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.\u00a0 They served as Chancellor and First Lady from 1997-2004.<\/p>\n

At UTC, Dr. Bill Stacy serves on the University of Chattanooga Board of\u00a0 Directors.\u00a0 He is the chair of the UC Foundation Grants Committee, and is Chair of the Advisory Board for the UTC SimCenter.<\/p>\n

In the community, he currently serves as Chair of the Greater Chattanooga United Way, The Secretary of the Memorial Hospital Foundation, and is on the Board of Directors for Bible in the Schools.\u00a0 He is past president of the Rotary Club of Chattanooga, a former campaign chair for the Greater Chattanooga United Way, and has served on the Board of Directors for many Chattanooga organizations, including the Chamber of Commerce, the Tennessee Aquarium, Junior Achievement, and Allied Arts.<\/p>\n

While serving as the first lady of UTC, Dr. Sue Stacy developed an introductory Microcomputer Applications class for business majors.\u00a0 She developed a technology grant for Lupton Renaissance Funds for College of Business Classrooms.<\/p>\n

Dr. Sue Stacy brought the campus and community together by initiating the Town & Gown Ball to raise funds for University classroom enhancements.<\/p>\n

Though they are no longer employees of UTC, the couple supports academics, the fine arts, lecture series, and alumni programs.\u00a0 They love athletics, and attend many sporting events, cheering on their beloved Mocs.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
