Coaches, school administrators, and parents will learn how to protect child-athletes from concussions.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Seating is limited and registration is required. Please visit:<a href=\"http:\/\/www.vanderbilthealth.com\/concussionseminar\" target=\"_blank\"> vanderbilthealth.com\/concussionseminar<\/a> to RSVP.<\/p>\n<p>In response to Tennessee legislation which mandates concussion education must begin in January 2014, a group of experts from the CCPI and VSCC will provide information on comprehensive concussion for athletes of all ages.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s a lot of misinformation out there among parents, coaches, and administrators,\u201d said Scott Bruce, CCPI founder and UTC faculty member. \u201cThere is a need for these groups to learn how to recognize the injury and manage it appropriately. That means not sending a child back to the playing field too soon.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Seminar experts will cover a range of topics including signs and symptoms, the importance of baseline testing, long-term effects, return-to-play guidelines, proper equipment fittings, and more.<\/p>\n<p>Chattanooga speakers, who also helped establish CCPI:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Dr. Danielle Mitchell, board-certified and fellowship-trained in Sports Medicine<br \/>\n\u2022 Dr. Jason Robertson, board-certified in both sports medicine and family medicine<br \/>\n\u2022 Dr. L. Shay Richardson, M.D., primary residency training in Emergency Medicine and sub-specialty in Sports Medicine and Interventional Pain Medicine<br \/>\n\u2022 Dr. J. Christopher Young, clinical neuropsychologist<br \/>\n\u2022 Scott L.
