Families play a vital role in supporting students throughout their college journey, offering encouragement and guidance during challenging times. We wanted to share a resource that could be helpful to share with your students to manage the stress and find support available to them both on and off campus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.utc.edu\/enrollment-management-and-student-affairs\/student-outreach-and-support\">Office of Student Outreach &amp; Support<\/a><\/strong> (SOS), part of the Dean of Students Office, provides case management, basic needs services, and general support for students experiencing a disruption to their normal academic studies. SOS staff guides and helps connect students with a variety of resources both on and off-campus, whether they are experiencing physical or mental health, personal, or family concerns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you have concerns about your student and it is not an emergency, please submit a Community Member of Concern Referral (<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.utc.edu\/coc\">www.utc.edu\/coc<\/a><\/strong>) so that SOS can send outreach and offer support appropriately. Through our outreach, we aim to help students develop self-advocacy, resiliency, and coping skills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you have concerns about your student, and it is an emergency, please call Campus PD at 423-425-HELP.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The UTC Parent and Family Association can also serve as a connector to a variety of resources on campus, such as Student Outreach &amp; Support. This option is secure and provides the quickest access to funds. Paper checks are mailed to the permanent address on file, which can take 5-10+ days via USPS.\u00a0 If assistance is needed on adding the refund account information, please go to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.utc.edu\/bursar\"><strong>www.utc.edu\/bursar<\/strong><\/a>, click the \u201cVideo Instructions\u201d tab in the middle of the page and click on the video titled \u201cBursar Series: Direct Deposit.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If the Tuition Installment Payment Plan (TIPP) was utilized for the Spring Semester, the third payment was due on March 1 with final payment due on April 1.&nbsp; A late fee of $50 is applied on the 4<sup>th<\/sup> of the month if the scheduled payment is not received. &nbsp;Please note that an unpaid balance can affect future registrations.&nbsp; On April 2, a hold will be placed on the accounts that still owe for Spring 2025.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 1098T is now available on the student\u2019s MyMocsNet account.&nbsp; Jones Observatory<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Department of Chemistry and Physics invites you to one of Chattanooga\u2019s secret treasures, the Clarence T. Jones Observatory. Star Parties at the Observatory are educational events which are <em>free and open to the public<\/em>. The schedule for each semester is posted on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.utc.edu\/arts-and-sciences\/chemistry-and-physics\/jones-observatory\"><strong>the website<\/strong><\/a>, with updates posted to Facebook. Our first event following Spring Break will be on <strong>Sunday, March 23, from 7pm \u2013 9pm EDT<\/strong>. The topic will be \u201cPrecession of the Equinoxes\u201d with guest speaker Dr. Wesley Foster from Chattanooga State College.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Activities during a Star Party include a lecture on an astronomy topic, a show in the planetarium, an opportunity to view a live astronomical object through the historic 20.5&#8243; telescope.
