We care about supporting your student in finishing the semester strong and managing the normal stress that comes along with deadlines and exams. Here are some tips to reduce stress to discuss with your student to set them up for success!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Prioritize sleep: <\/strong>All-nighters often end up hurting more than helping. Our brains and bodies need sufficient rest to perform at our best. It is recommended that we get 7-9 hours of sleep each night to allow our minds time to process the information we have learned and wake up ready to conquer the next day.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Plan to take breaks:<\/strong> Create a list of all the tasks for Finals Week and then break them down into manageable chunks. Rather than cramming for hours with no breaks, we can reduce stress by giving our minds a reprieve. Plan to build in a five-minute break every half hour and allow for longer breaks every few hours.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Do not skip meals:<\/strong> Nourishing our bodies with nutrient-rich foods and staying hydrated will keep us from feeling ill, which can add to stress. Regular meals also fuel our brains to function at the optimal level leading to better test performance.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Check-in if the stress becomes overwhelming: <\/strong>The Counseling Center is a free resource on campus with walk-in appointments available. In the Center for Wellbeing, we offer health coaching, which is a non-clinical support that assists students in setting and working toward achieving wellbeing goals. Stress is the number one reason why students utilize a health coach on campus!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Be sure to follow the Center for Wellbeing on Instagram @utc_cw to engage with our Stress Awareness Month posts every day throughout April. We will be sharing more tips and reminders to support your student.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We recognize that families play a huge role in supporting their students throughout their college journey. We are here to support you as you encourage and guide them, ensuring they have the resources they need to thrive on campus. Based off of feedback from previoius Housing surveys, we&#8217;ve been able to implement several changes\u2014 the&nbsp;Housing&nbsp;Lottery&nbsp;as a new assignments process, academic tutoring in the residence halls, and programs and activities that better meet student needs. We also have daily giveaways and the grand prize bundle giveaways, which include a $400 Housing scholarship. (May impact financial aid. Must be enrolled and living on campus for Fall 2025.) Assignments start in early-April and continue through the summer.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Spring 2025 Move Out<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>UTC Housing and Residence Life Residence Halls close on&nbsp;<strong>Wednesday, April 30 at 12&nbsp;p.m.<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>(EST).<\/strong>&nbsp;All residents must be checked out of their space by this time or 24 hours after their last final, unless they are graduating or transitioning to summer housing for summer school. Graduates need to be checked out by Sunday, May 4 at 12 p.m. (EST).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here is what your student needs to know:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>RAs will be hosting mandatory&nbsp;closing&nbsp;meetings&nbsp;March 31-April 6, 2024. Non-perishable food can be taken to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.utc.edu\/student-outreach\/scrappys-cupboard\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Scrappy&#8217;s Cupboard<\/a>\u00a0on the 3rd floor of the UC.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>CLEAN: Bedroom, kitchen, living room and bathroom.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>CLEAN &amp; empty refrigerator. Do not defrost or disconnect refrigerators.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Thermostat: Turn to cool, set to 75 degrees and set fan to AUTO.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Clear balconies of plants, furniture, holiday lights, etc.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Close and lock all windows and doors!<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Turn off all lights.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>After\u00a0Closing:<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Resident Directors will complete final walk-throughs of all rooms\/apartments. Damage charges are assessed by the Resident Director at this time and emailed to the resident.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Please encourage your students to&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.utc.edu\/enrollment-management-and-student-affairs\/housing\/about\">contact their RA or RD<\/a>&nbsp;with any questions or concerns. From roommate conflicts to maintenance issues, they are there to help.
