The Fall 2023 Semester end date is getting close. The weather is changing, and the holidays are just around the corner. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
We continue to encourage students to set up ACH\/Direct Deposit for refunds through the student\u2019s MyMocsNet account. It is a vital step to ensure the funds expected can be delivered as quickly and securely as possible. Paper checks are mailed to the permanent address on file, which can take 5-10+ days via USPS. If assistance is needed on adding the refund account information, please go to www.utc.edu\/bursar<\/a>, click the \u201cVideo Instructions\u201d tab in the middle of the page and click on the video titled \u201cBursar Series: Direct Deposit. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
If the Tuition Installment Payment Plan (TIPP) was utilized for the Fall Semester, the final payment is due on November 1. A late fee of $50 is applied on the 4th<\/sup> of the month if the scheduled payment is not received. Please note that a balance can affect future registrations. On November 2, a hold will be placed on accounts that still owe for Fall 2023. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Spring 2024 is fast approaching and there are some important dates that you should know. The First E-Mocs Statement will be available on November 22 and the fee payment deadline is December 14. Cancellation of classes for the Spring Semester occurs on December 18. Please remind your student of the dates to avoid missing a crucial deadline. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Please encourage your students to contact their RA or RD<\/a> with any questions or concerns. From roommate conflicts to maintenance-related concerns, they are there to help. Please also have them check out the Housing Student Handbook<\/a> that contains information on how to live in our residence halls. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
If your student has a maintenance issue, have them fill out a maintenance request in Manage My Housing. If it is an emergency, have them contact their complex office or RA On Call<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Serving hands are needed at the Chattanooga Area Food Bank to impact residents in need within the city and surrounding communities! Did you know that 41% of the individuals that are food insecure in our region are children? Or that Tennessee and Georgia consistently rank amongst the highest food insecure states? Through a hands-on effort during this volunteer shift with other Mocs and Community Members, students will address the “community voice. Volunteering from 1-4:30 p.m. may include sorting donated food items, making emergency food boxes that will be given out the back door of the agency, or helping in the emergency food box area with re-stocking carts, etc. Interested students must be available during the entire shift in order to volunteer. Transportation to\/from the Chattanooga Area Food Bank is available if needed. Thanks to a grant from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in collaboration with the Tennessee Department of Health, University Health Services has updated its clinic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Waiting room furniture has been replaced with chairs that have antimicrobial coverings. Exam rooms have been updated and have non-porous countertops, touchless faucets, soap dispensers and paper towel holders, and new cabinets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
University Health Services reminds students, faculty and staff that testing for COVID-19, flu and RSV continues at no cost to anyone in the University community. While UHS is seeing fewer cases of COVID, we ask students to please stay vigilant. Click here to learn more<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<\/div>\n\n\n\nUTC raised $1,734,947.42 from 2,131 donors<\/strong><\/a> during its fourth annual Mocs Give Day on Oct. 3. The day\u2019s original fundraising goals to raise $1,000,000 from 1,500 donors were exceeded by nearly 73% and 42%, respectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cMocs Give Day is all about the collective power of giving. Almost 80% of all gifts were $100 or less,\u201d said UTC Vice Chancellor of Advancement Kim White<\/strong>. \u201cFrom supporting scholarships and athletics to study abroad opportunities and student support services, alumni and friends of UTC came together to support the areas on campus they are passionate about.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n\u201cDisability Visibility: First-Person Stories from the Twenty-First Century,\u201d edited by Alice Wong, was selected as the Read to Achieve text for 2023-2024<\/a><\/strong>. \u201cDisability Visibility,\u201d a collective anthology of short essays, interview transcripts, articles, blog posts and creative prose, introduces UTC students to conversations in and around disability representation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In celebration of that book selection, Haben Girma\u2014a human rights lawyer advancing disability justice, the first deafblind person to graduate from Harvard Law School and contributor to \u201cDisability Visibility\u201d\u2014has been invited to UTC to share her story. Girma, named a White House Champion of Change by President Obama and the recipient of a Helen Keller Achievement Award, will speak at 4:30 p.m.<\/strong><\/a> on Thursday, Nov. 2<\/strong>, in the University Center Tennessee Room. Her lecture is open to all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Girma\u2019s visit to UTC is sponsored by Student Success Programs, Department of English, Disability Resource Center, Department of Political Science and Public Service, Division of Access and Engagement, Honors College and Walker Center for Teaching and Learning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The season opens for both programs on Monday, Nov. 6<\/strong>, at McKenzie Arena\u2014with the women taking on King University at 11 a.m. and the men facing Covenant College at 7 p.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
