The answers to these and other questions around quantum science will be answered by one of the nation\u2019s pre-eminent quantum experts, Arizona State University\u2019s Senior Director of Quantum Networking Dr. Joe Lukens, in a free public program at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 17. The event takes place in person at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship in the James R. Mapp Building on campus, and it can be watched online via live stream\u00a0here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

In his April 17 talk, Lukens will introduce principles of quantum mechanics including entanglement, network demonstrations and future applications. It is the first of a series of programming offered in conjunction with and following World Quantum Day on April 15.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Joe Lukens has a bachelor\u2019s degree in electrical engineering and physics from the University of Alabama and a doctorate in electrical engineering from Purdue University. He served as a Wigner Fellow and Research Scientist in Quantum Information Science at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) from 2015 to 2022. Lukens is now Senior Director of Quantum Networking and Research Professor at Arizona State University, with a joint faculty appointment at ORNL. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
