If you are bringing an award with you from another institution, please contact&nbsp;<a href=\"mailto:Angie-Morelock@utc.edu\">Angie-Morelock@utc.edu<\/a>&nbsp;as soon as possible.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>This Friday,<strong>&nbsp;August 18<\/strong>,&nbsp;Dr. David Sholl, interim director of the UT Oak Ridge Innovation Institute, will be holding a virtual town hall for UTC faculty to discuss the call for concept papers on topics for future&nbsp;<strong>Convergent Research Initiatives<\/strong>&nbsp;within the Institute. The virtual town hall will begin at&nbsp;<strong>11:30am Eastern<\/strong>. Click&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/tennessee.zoom.us\/j\/98355872041\">here<\/a><\/strong>&nbsp;to join.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>On Friday,&nbsp;<strong>August 25<\/strong>, the UTC Research Institute will be hosting a Brown Bag Lunch to discuss the upcoming&nbsp;<strong>FY24-25 CEACSE competition<\/strong>. Come learn what\u2019s new about the program and connect with researchers across campus. The Brown Bag Lunch will be held in UTC Library Room 435 from&nbsp;<strong>11:30am \u2013 1:30 pm<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>On&nbsp;<strong>September 20<\/strong>, the UTC Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship will be hosting a talk with Dr. Kusum Rathore, the Vice President for the&nbsp;<strong>UT Research Foundation (UTRF)<\/strong>. Dr. Rathore\u2019s talk will focus on how UTC faculty can take advantage of UTRF\u2019s services for research translation and commercialization. The talk will be held in Mapp Building Room 212 from&nbsp;<strong>10:30am \u2013 12:00pm<\/strong>. ORSP and ORI will be working intermittently while we connect with our inter-campus colleagues.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><u>Funding Opportunities<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Catalyze has released a call for proposals for Round 3 of the&nbsp;<strong>Catalyze Challenge<\/strong>&nbsp;program. This round is focused two themes: Career Exploration for Young Adolescents and Activating Employer Partnerships. Applications to either theme must focus on innovative, exploratory work that will ultimately directly benefit young adolescents (ages 11-22), including at least historically underserved group. Proposals are due&nbsp;<strong>September 22, 2023.<\/strong>&nbsp;Learn more at&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.catalyzechallenge.org\/round-three-grant-funding\">https:\/\/www.catalyzechallenge.org\/round-three-grant-funding<\/a>.&nbsp;Please notify ORSP by September 1&nbsp;if you are interested in this opportunity.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>NSF has released a new solicitation for the&nbsp;<strong>Smart Health and Biomedical Research in the Era of Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Data Science (SCH)<\/strong>&nbsp;program, which supports innovative, interdisciplinary research focused on areas of high need in the biomedical and public health fields. The full solicitation is available&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/new.nsf.gov\/funding\/opportunities\/smart-health-biomedical-research-era-artificial\">here<\/a><\/strong>. Proposals are due&nbsp;<strong>November 9, 2023<\/strong>. Investigators are limited to participating in&nbsp;no more than two proposals&nbsp;(in any role) per year.&nbsp;Please notify ORSP by September 15&nbsp;if you are interested in this opportunity.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>REMINDER<\/strong>&nbsp;&#8211; ORSP is accepting Notices of Intent for two limited submission programs:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>FY24 NEA Grants for Arts Projects<\/strong>&nbsp;&#8211; Read more about the program&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.arts.gov\/grants\/grants-for-arts-projects\/program-description\">here<\/a><\/strong>. UTC is limited to&nbsp;1 proposal per year. Intellectual property include inventions, discoveries, products, computer code and software, written materials, methods, recordings, arts, crafts, and technology-based academic materials. See more information at the Walker Center for Teaching and Learning\u2019s&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.utc.edu\/academic-affairs\/walker-center-for-teaching-and-learning\/intellectual-property\">IP webpage<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/utrf.tennessee.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">University of Tennessee Research Foundation<\/a>\u00a0is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that promotes the commercialization of UT intellectual property, encourages an entrepreneurial culture, contributes to state and regional economic development, and promotes research and education to benefit the people of Tennessee and beyond. While UTRF is a separate entity from UT, it provides assistance and resources to the research activities of faculty, staff and students of the UT system (including campuses in Knoxville, Chattanooga, and Martin, the Health Science Center in Memphis, the state-wide Institute of Agriculture, the UT Space Institute in Tullahoma, and the UT Institute of Public Service).
