It supports two types of investigators:<strong>SuRE-First<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2013 investigators who have not been or are not the PD\/PI of any peer-reviewed, externally funded federal or non-federal research award.<strong>SuRE&nbsp;<\/strong>\u2013 investigators may not be a PD\/PI of an active NIH award (with some exceptions) but may have received previous funding from NIH and other sponsors.&nbsp;The&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.research.uky.edu\/sure-resource-center\">SuRE Resource Center<\/a>&nbsp;holds weekly Q&amp;As for investigators interested in this funding mechanism.&nbsp;&nbsp;Additional application deadlines are May 28, 2025 and September 29, 2025.&nbsp;<\/td><\/tr><tr><td><a href=\"https:\/\/new.nsf.gov\/funding\/opportunities\/cyberinfrastructure-public-access-open-science-ci\">NSF Cyberinfrastructure for Public Access and Open Science (CI PAOS)<\/a><\/td><td>N\/A<\/td><td>Proposals are accepted anytime. Before submitting a proposal, proposers&nbsp;<strong>must<\/strong>&nbsp;discuss their project with a cognizant&nbsp;CI PAOS Program Officer&nbsp;<strong>and<\/strong>&nbsp;with the relevant NSF disciplinary research program officer(s) that would co-fund the project.<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><u>Sponsored Projects Policy Spotlight<\/u><\/strong><strong>: NSF PAPPG 24-1<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The National Science Foundation has released the new&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/new.nsf.gov\/policies\/pappg\/24-1\">Proposal &amp; Awards Policies &amp; Procedures Guide (PAPPG)<\/a>, effective&nbsp;<strong>May 20, 2024<\/strong>. A full summary of the changes is available&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/new.nsf.gov\/policies\/pappg\/24-1\/summary-changes\">here<\/a><\/strong>. Major changes include the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>New Personnel Required Assurance<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2013 Individuals who are party to a&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nsf.gov\/bfa\/dias\/policy\/researchprotection\/NSPM33Definitions.pdf#page=3\">malign foreign talent recruitment program<\/a><\/strong>&nbsp;are no longer eligible to participate&nbsp;in any role&nbsp;on NSF-funded projects. Participation in programming sponsored by a non-maligned foreign government is allowable but must continue to be disclosed in the biosketch and\/or CPS forms. To ensure all proposals submitted to NSF are compliant with this requirement, ORSP is requiring all named personnel (regardless of their role on the project) sign the Personnel Required Assurance form available&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.utc.edu\/research\/research-and-sponsored-programs\/pre-award-services\/proposal-development\/federal-agency-guidance\">here<\/a><\/strong>. The requirement extends to any named subaward personnel and consultant.<strong><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Updated Biosketch Form<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2013 also called the Common Form; removes the synergistic activities section and updates the certification. See more&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/new.nsf.gov\/policies\/pappg\/24-1\/ch-2-proposal-preparation#ch2D2hi\">here<\/a><\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Updated CPS Form<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2013 also called the Common Form; updates the certification; see more&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/new.nsf.gov\/policies\/pappg\/24-1\/ch-2-proposal-preparation#ch2D2hii\">here<\/a><\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>New Synergistic Activities Document<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2013 an additional personnel document that lists up to 5 synergistic activities. View the NSF instructions&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/new.nsf.gov\/policies\/pappg\/24-1\/ch-2-proposal-preparation#ch2D2hiv\">here<\/a><\/strong>&nbsp;and download a template&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.utc.edu\/research\/research-and-sponsored-programs\/pre-award-services\/proposal-development\/federal-agency-guidance\">here<\/a><\/strong>.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Updated Mentoring Plan Requirement<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2013 A 1-page Mentoring Plan will be required if a graduate student or postdoc will participate in project. This is a change from the requirement only applying to postdocs.
