The following UTC Faculty and Staff have attracted <\/em>$517,360 <\/em><\/strong>in external grant and contract awards:<\/em>\u202f <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Keenan Dungey, Dr. Meredith Barbee, and Dr. Jared Pienkos (Chemistry and Physics) have received $4,800 from the American Chemical Society for the project entitled, “Project SEED site in Chattanooga for 2025.” <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Yingfeng Wang (Computer Science and Engineering) has received $10,800 from a private institution for higher education for a research project. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Murat Barisik (Mechanical Engineering) has received $501,760 from the National Science Foundation for the project entitled, “CAREER: Multiscale characterization of heat transfer in nanoporous materials assisted by machine learning.” <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Joey Shaw (Biology, Geology and Environmental Science) has requested $12,000 from the Association of Southeastern Biologist for the project entitled, \u201c2025 Spring Wildflower Pilgrimage.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Luis Sanchez Diaz (Chemistry and Physics) has requested $1,066,900 from the Department of Defense for the project entitled, \u201cDURIP: Correlative Optical Tweezers and Confocal Fluoresence to Measure Biomechanics and Rheological Properties of Antibiotic-Resistant Escherichia Coli.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Mengjun Xie (National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense) has requested $95,424 from the National Security Agency Central Security Service for the project entitled, \u201c2025 DOD SEC NSA Cybersecurity Scholarships and Outreach.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Angela Dittmar (Arts-Based Collaborative) has requested $5,000 from the Dollar General Literacy Foundation for the project entitled, \u201cABC, 123, Arts and Me! Classroom Residencies Boost Reading Skills.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Marissa McElrone and Dr. Kara Hamilton (Health & Human Performance) have requested $449,040 from the Tennessee Department of Health for the project entitled, \u201cStrengthening Nutrition Security: Building Capacity to Implement Policy, Systems, and Environmental (PSE) Strategies to Increase Access to Healthy Food and Beverage among Tennessee Food Pantries.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Charles Mix and Nyssa Hunt (IGTLab) have requested $419,167 from the Thrive Regional Partnership for the project entitled, \u201cRegional Geospatial Data Hub for the Chattanooga, Tennessee Region.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Yu Liang, Dr. Yingfeng Wang, Dr. Zihao Wang, Dr. Dalei Wu (Computer Science and Engineering), and Dr. Gregory Heath (Health & Human Performance) have requested $150,000 from the National Science Foundation for the project entitled, \u201cSCC-DG: AI-Enhanced Music Therapy: A Holistic Framework for Neurological Rehabilitation.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Ryan Zwart (Health & Human Performance) has requested $150,000 from the National Science Foundation for the project entitled, \u201cSCC-DG: Enhancing Outdoor Recreation Participant Health: Investigating Decision-Making Based on Environmental Quality Understanding.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Yukun Yuan, Dr. Jejal Reddy Bathi, Dr. Yu Liang (Engineering and Computer Science), Dawn Ford (Biology, Geology and Environmental Science), Dr. Junrong Shi (Social Work), and Cindy Hornsby (Health, Education, and Professional Studies) have requested $150,000 from the National Science Foundation for the project entitled, \u201cSCC-DG: Community-Driven Indoor Air Quality Management for School-age Children through Sensing, Analysis, Specification, and Intervention.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Yukun Yuan, Dr. Shaogang Ren (Computer Science and Engineering), Dr. Max Teaford, and Dr. Feng Guo (Psychology) in collaboration with the University of Texas at Arlington and Florida State University, have requested $289,155 from the National Science Foundation for the project entitled, \u201d Advancing Safety in Intelligent Transportation Systems: Human Behavior-Aware Simulation, Prediction, and Prevention.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Luis Sanchez Diaz (Chemistry and Physics) has requested $250,000 from the National Science Foundation for the project entitled, \u201cLEAPS-MPS: Dynamic Properties and Aging Process of Charged Colloidal System Under Flow Using Rheo-Microscopy and Computer Simulation.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Xiunan Wang (Mathematics) has requested $249,993 from the National Science Foundation for the project entitled, \u201cLEAPS-MPS: Refining Inverse Methods and Advancing Hybrid Forecasting Approaches for Influenza Transmission Dynamics.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
