Dr. Abdollah Arabshahi (SimCenter) has received $42,269 from the National Science Foundation for the project entitled, “RUI: Efficient Adaptive Backward SDE Methods for Nonlinear Filtering Problems.”<\/p>\n

Twyler Boykin (Center for Community Career Education) has received $287,537 from the U.S. Department of Education for the project entitled, “Upward Bound Math & Science.”<\/p>\n

Sandra Cole (Center for Community Career Education) has received $81,800 from the Tennessee Higher Education Commission for the project entitled, “Each One Reach One – 2019-2021.”<\/p>\n

Drs. Michael Danquah and Soubantika Palchoudhury (Civil and Chemical Engineering) have received $24,935 from Integer for the project entitled, “FTIR-guided method development for polyimide curing efficiency analysis to phase out mercury dissipation test.”<\/p>\n

Shirl Gholston (Center for Community Career Education) has received $327,499 from the U.S. Department of Education for the project entitled, “Student Support Services FY16-FY21.”<\/p>\n

Dr. Pamela Guess (School Psychology) has received $189,000 from the Tennessee Department of Education for the project entitled, “School Psychology Intern Program.”<\/p>\n

Drs. Loren Hayes (Biology, Geology, and Environmental Science), Shewanee Howard-Baptiste (Health and Human Performance), Jennifer Ellis (School of Education), and Amanda Clark (Psychology) have received $263,356 from the National Science Foundation for the project entitled, “Collaborative Research: IRES Track I: Stronger together: Exploring how communal care reduces individual costs during challenging years.”<\/p>\n

Dr. Linda Hill (School of Nursing) has received $23,570 from the Health Resources and Services Administration for the project entitled, “UTC 2019 Nursing Anesthetist Traineeships.”<\/p>\n

Dr. Hope Klug (Biology, Geology, and Environmental Science) has received $119,738 from the National Science Foundation for the project entitled, “CAREER: The Operation of Sexual Selection Revisited.”<\/p>\n

Laurie Melnik, Joel Baxley, Angela Dittmar (Southeast Center for Education), and Rachel Fleming (Library) have received $10,000 from the Tennessee Arts Commission for the project entitled, “Arts Learning Lab: Project REAL (Rural Educators for Arts Learning).”<\/p>\n

Dr. Renee Murley (School of Education) has received $205,000 from the Community Foundation of Greater Chattanooga Incorporated for the project entitled, “Chattanooga Teaching Fellows Program.”<\/p>\n

Drs. Eleni Panagiotou and Jin Wang (Mathematics) have received $125,000 from the National Science Foundation for the project entitled, “Computational methods for measuring topological entanglement in polymers.”<\/p>\n

Dr. Hong Qin (SimCenter) has received an additional $1,406 from the National Science Foundation to supplement the project entitled, “CAREER: A probabilistic gene network model of cellular aging and its application on the conserved lifespan extension mechanisms of dietary restriction.”<\/p>\n

Drs. Amber Roache, Jenny Holcombe, and Priscilla Simms-Roberson (School of Nursing) have received $561,283 from the Health Resources and Services Administration for the project entitled, “ANEW – Clinical-Academic Network for Developing Leaders (CANDL).”<\/p>\n

Dr. Joey Shaw (Biology, Geology, and Environmental Science) has received $12,500 from the Association of Southeastern Biologists for the project entitled, “Graduate assistantship to support the Chair of the Wildflower Pilgrimage Organizing Committee.”<\/p>\n

The following UTC Faculty and Staff have attracted individual awards:<\/em><\/h4>\n

Dr. Michelle Deardorff (Political Science and Public Service) received a U.S. Fulbright Scholars grant for \u201cDeveloping research teaching capacity in political sciences\u201d at Aleksand\u00ebr Moisiu University of Durr\u00ebs.<\/p>\n

Dr. Ethan Mills (Philosophy) has received an award from the Heinlein Society for “Heinlein Society Award for Best Paper at the World Science Fiction Convention in San Jose, August 2018, for the paper \u2018Le Guin’s Daoism\u2019.”<\/p>\n

Dr. Dana Moody (Interior Design) has received an award from RoosterGNN Global News Network for the project entitled, \u201cOrigins of Spanish Colonial Architecture.\u201d<\/p>\n

Dr. Mark Stoutenberg (Health and Human Performance) has received an award from the U.S. Fulbright Scholars Program for the project entitled, \u201cBuilding Capacity for Empowering Community Health Workers.\u201d<\/p>\n

Dr. John Swanson (History) has received an award from the Leibniz Institute for the History and Culture of Eastern Europe for \u201cGuest Researcher at the University of Leipzig.\u201d<\/p>\n

Dr. John Swanson (History) has received an award from the U.S. Fulbright Scholars Program for the project entitled, \u201cIdentity Crises in the Borderlands: The People and their Communities in Lili Jacob’s Auschwitz Album.\u201d<\/p>\n

Dr. John Swanson (History) was awarded a Fellowship from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation and La Fondation pour la Memoire de la Shoah for the project entitled, \u201cIdentity Crises in the Borderlands: The People and their Communities in Lili Jacob’s Auschwitz Album.\u201d<\/p>\n

Lindsey Cochran and Dr. Pamela Ashmore (Social, Cultural, and Justice Studies) have requested $5,134 from the Georgia Department of Natural Resources for the project entitled, “Proposal for an Archaeological Phase I Survey: Sapelo Lighthouse Trail.”<\/p>\n

Dr. Trevor Elliott (Mechanical Engineering) has requested $517,844 from the National Science Foundation for the project entitled, “CAREER: To Infinity and Beyond – Combustion Analysis and Control of Additively Manufactured Solid Rocket Fuel Grain Geometries Without Conventional Limitations.”<\/p>\n

Dr. Bradley Harris (Civil and Chemical Engineering) has requested $515,535 from the National Science Foundation for the project entitled, “CAREER: Developing a mechanistic model for unsaturated fatty acid transport and utilization in Gram-negative bacteria.”<\/p>\n

Drs. Daniel Loveless and Donald Reising (Electrical Engineering) have requested $250,805 from the Department of Defense via the National Reconnaissance Office for the project entitled, “In-Situ Radiation Detection Using Existing On-Board Spacecraft Hardware.”<\/p>\n

Tara Mathis, Linda Hinkle, and Sqouia Holmes (Veteran Student Services) have requested $95,396 from the Tennessee Higher Education Commission for the project entitled, “From Boots to Suits: The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga Veteran Transition Support Conference.”<\/p>\n

Charles Mix (IGTLab) has requested $10,175 from the National Geographic Society for the project entitled, “Developing Geospatial Resources supporting Chattanooga Regional Conservation Partnership Goals.”<\/p>\n

Dr. Soubantika Palchoudhury (Civil and Chemical Engineering) has requested $508,356 from the National Science Foundation for the project entitled, “CAREER: A New Library of Cadmium-Free Multinary Chalcogenide Nanocrystals for Engineered Quantum Dot Light Emitting Device.”<\/p>\n
