\n<\/strong>The following UTC Faculty and Staff have attracted $1,115,898<\/strong> in external grant and contract awards:<\/em><\/h4>\n

Laurie Allen, Angela Dittmar, and Dr. Joel Baxley (Southeast Center for Education) have requested and received $12,000 from Marion County Schools for the project entitled, “Implementing Arts 360 Program at Jasper Elementary School.”<\/p>\n

Dr. Joel Baxley (Southeast Center for Education) has requested and received $3,000 from Red Bank Elementary School for the project entitled, “Developing a Fifth Grade Integrated Unit at Red Bank Elementary.”<\/p>\n

Dr. Chris Cunningham (Psychology) has requested and received $3,984 from Covenant Transportation for the project entitled, \u201cUTC – Covenant Transport Critical Thinking Workshop.”<\/p>\n

Drs. Zibin Guo (Social, Cultural, and Justice Studies) and Elizabeth Hathaway (Health and Human Performance) have received an additional $93,211 from the U.S. Department of Veteran’s Affairs for the project entitled, “Wheelchair\/Adaptive Tai Chi Chuan (W\/A TCC) as an Adaptive Sport for Veterans with Ambulatory Disability – Program Expansion.”<\/p>\n

Dr. Ashley Howell (Psychology) has requested and received $19,543 from the American Psychological Foundation for the project entitled, “Fear regulation, executive functioning, and child trauma exposure:\u00a0 A prospective study on psychological risk and resilience in youth.”<\/p>\n

Drs. James Newman, Kidambi Sreenivas (Mechanical Engineering), and Craig Tanis (Computer Science and Engineering) have received $737,078 from the University of Dayton Research Institute via the UT Space Institute for the project entitled, “Aerostructural Analysis Supporting the Development of Hypersonic Vehicle Flight Test Structures.”<\/p>\n

Dr. Joanne Romagni (Vice Chancellor for Research) has requested and received $75,000 from the UC Foundation to support biomedical research initiation efforts at UTC.<\/p>\n

Drs. Mina Sartipi (CUIP), Kidambi Sreenivas (Mechanical Engineering), and Chandra Ward (Social, Cultural, and Justice Studies) have received $70,000 from the Lyndhurst Foundation for the project entitled, “Exploring Transit Innovation in Chattanooga: Phase 1 – Data Parameters.”<\/p>\n

Dr. Priscilla Simms-Roberson (School of Nursing) has received $5,000 from CVS Health for the project entitled, “2019 CVS Health Foundation Advance Practice Nurse and Physician Assistant Scholarship Program.”<\/p>\n

Drs. Anthony Skjellum (SimCenter) and Craig Tanis (Computer Science and Engineering) have received $50,000 from the U.S. Department of Energy via the National Nuclear Security Administration Sandia National Lab for the project entitled, “Systems Software Performance and Optimization on Emerging Scalable Platforms.”<\/p>\n

Drs. Henry Spratt, David Giles (Biology, Geology, and Environmental Science), June Hanks, and David Levine (Physical Therapy) have requested and received $7,082 from You First Services, Inc. for the project entitled, “Clinical Investigation of GloTran Low Temp Plasma\/H2O2 Disinfection Device in a Pulmonary Outpatient Clinic.”<\/p>\n

Karen Vann (Center for Community Career Education) has received a $40,000 supplement from the U.S. Department of Education for the project entitled, “Talent Search.”<\/p>\n

Dr. David Aborn (Biology, Geology, and Environmental Science) has requested $49,999 from the Riverview Foundation for the project entitled, “Wood Thrush Migratory Connectivity Using Motus Tracking Stations.”<\/p>\n

Drs. Tatiana Allen, Joshua Hamblen (Chemistry & Physics), and Jennifer Ellis (School of Education) have requested $24,997 from the Physics Teacher Education Coalition for the project entitled, “Physics Teacher Recruitment.”<\/p>\n

Dr. Stephanie DeVries (Biology, Geology, and Environmental Science) has requested $37,818 from the University of Wisconsin – Madison for the project entitled, “Water security in Armenia, WI: Modeling for informed decision-making in a nitrate-impacted watershed.”<\/p>\n

Drs. Bradley Harris (Civil and Chemical Engineering) and Stephanie Philipp (School of Education) have requested $591,488 from the National Science Foundation for the project entitled, “RET Site: Providing Research Experiences and Practicum on Cyber-Physical Systems for Regional Community College Faculty (PREP-CPS).”<\/p>\n

Drs. Andrew Ledoan, Boris Belinskiy, Cuilan Gao, Roger Nichols, Jin Wang (Mathematics) and Sherry Marlow Ormsby (OPEIR) have requested $235,408 from the National Security Agency for the project entitled, “REU Site: Research Training for Undergraduates in Number Theory, Probability, Statistics and Related Fields of Application.”<\/p>\n

Drs. Yu Liang, Dalei Wu (Computer Science and Engineering), Erkan Kaplanoglu (Engineering Management & Technology), Anthony Skjellum (SimCenter), and Zibin Guo (Social, Cultural, and Justice Studies) have requested $799,695 from the National Science Foundation for the project entitled, “Collaborative Research: CHS: Medium: VIGOR — a Versatile, Individualized and Generative ORchestrator to motivate the movement of the people with limited mobility.”<\/p>\n

Tara Mathis (Office of the Dean of Students) and Linda Hinkle (Veteran Student Services) have requested $149,556 from the Tennessee Higher Education Commission for the project entitled, “UTC Veteran Reconnect.”<\/p>\n

Dr. Jonathan Mies (Biology, Geology, and Environmental Science) has requested $4,999 from the Archer Daniels Midland for the project entitled, “X-Ray Diffraction Analyses.”<\/p>\n

Dr. Osama Osman (Civil and Chemical Engineering) has requested $541,364 from the National Science Foundation for the project entitled, “CPS: Frontier: Collaborative Research: A Smart City Dynamic Traffic Assignment and Control System.”<\/p>\n

Drs. Daniel Pack and Zachary Ruble (Electrical Engineering) have requested $1,161,489 from the National Science Foundation for the project entitled, “CHS: Medium: RUI: Cooperative Unmanned Aerial Vehicles to Combat Malaria.”<\/p>\n

Dr. Brooke Persons (Social, Cultural, and Justice Studies) has requested $200,757 from the Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority for the project entitled, “Archaeological Monitoring for the Frederiksted Town Waterline Rehabilitation Design Project, Frederiksted, St. Croix, US Virgin Islands.”<\/p>\n

Drs. Donald Reising, Daniel Loveless (Electrical Engineering), Farah Kandah (Computer Science and Engineering), Mina Sartipi (CUIP), and Anthony Skjellum (SimCenter) have requested $1,990,446 from the U.S. Department of Energy for the project entitled, “Defense-in-depth Security and Resilience for In-stallation Power Systems using Industrial IoT (IIoT) and Allied Systems Technologies.”<\/p>\n

Dr. Anthony Skjellum (SimCenter) has requested $453,411 from the National Science Foundation for the project entitled, “Collaborative Research: SHF: Medium: Transformative Message Passing Research for Performance, Portability, Predictability, and Productivity.”<\/p>\n

Dr. Anthony Skjellum (SimCenter) has requested $34,000 from the U.S. Department of Energy via the National Nuclear Security Administration for the project entitled, “Anthony Skjellum BSSW Fellowship Application — Better Scientific Software Fellowship.”<\/p>\n
