Dr. Stephanie DeVries (Biology, Geology, and Environmental Science), in collaboration with the University of Wisconsin \u2013 Madison, has requested and received $21,435 from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources for the project entitled, “Water security in Armenia, WI: Modeling for informed decision-making in a nitrate-impacted watershed.”<\/p>\n

Drs. Ralph Hood (Psychology) and Christopher Silver (LEAD) have requested and received $44,049 from Universitat Bielefeld for the project entitled, “Developmental Change in Spirituality:\u00a0 Longitudinal study of faith biographies, religious schemata and their psychological correlates and predictors.”<\/p>\n

Dr. Farah Kandah (Computer Science and Engineering) in collaboration with Tennessee Technological University has received $51,003 from the National Security Agency for the project entitled, “XiveNet: An Extensible, Innovative, and Open Architecture Testbed for In-Vehicle Network Security Research.”<\/p>\n

Drs. Mina Sartipi (CUIP) and Chandra Ward (Social, Cultural, and Justice Studies), in collaboration with Vanderbilt University, have received $214,500 from the National Science Foundation for the project entitled, “SCC-IRG Track 1: Mobility for all – Harnessing Emerging Transit Solutions for Underserved Communities.”<\/p>\n

Dr. Mina Sartipi (CUIP) has received $55,083 from the City of Chattanooga for the project entitled, “Hamilton County Accident Prediction Project.”<\/p>\n

Dr. Priscilla Simms-Roberson (School of Nursing) has received $3,000 from CVS Health for the project entitled, “2020 CVS Health Foundation Advance Practice Nurse and Physician Assistant Scholarship Program.”<\/p>\n

Drs. Mengjun Xie (National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense), Hong Qin, Chang Phuong, and David Schwab (Computer Science and Engineering), in collaboration with Fordham University, have received $225,926 from the National Security Agency for the project entitled, “Cybersecurity Faculty Development for MSIs through Cloud-based Hands-on Cybersecurity Curriculum and Training.”<\/p>\n

Drs. Mengjun Xie, Li Yang (National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense), Daniel Pack (Electrical Engineering), Hong Qin, and David Schwab (Computer Science and Engineering) have received $199,997 from the National Security Agency for the project entitled, “Accelerating Cybersecurity Faculty Development through an Integrated Approach.”<\/p>\n

Dr. Stephanie DeVries (Biology, Geology, and Environmental Science) has requested $28,303 from the University of Wisconsin \u2013 Madison for the project entitled, “Evaluating the utility of a land-management based nitrate estimator for high-capacity pumping wells in central Wisconsin..”<\/p>\n

Drs. Farah Kandah, Yingfeng Wang (Computer Science and Engineering), Anthony Skjellum (SIMCenter), and Donald Reising (Electrical Engineering) have requested $181,712 from the National Science Foundation for the project entitled, “Collaborative Research: RET Site: Cyber Research Teaching Solutions for Middle Tennessee High School Teachers.”<\/p>\n

Drs. Erkan Kaplanoglu, Ahad Nasab, and Misagh Mansouri (Engineering Management and Technology), in collaboration with Stanford University, have requested $29,940 from the National Institutes of Health for the project entitled, “Utilizing a Musculoskeletal Model for EMG Controlled Balance Platform for Low Back Pain Rehabilitation.”<\/p>\n

Drs. Yu Liang, Dalei Wu (Computer Science and Engineering), and Zibin Guo (Social, Cultural, and Justice Studies) have requested $15,000 from the University of Tennessee Research Foundation for the project entitled, “A Virtual, Individualized, and Generative ORchestrator (VIGOR) to motivate the movement of the people with limited mobility.”<\/p>\n

Drs. Misagh Mansouri and Erkan Kaplanoglu (Engineering Management and Technology) have requested $14,986 from the University of Tennessee Research Foundation for the project entitled, “A pneumatically-actuated platform with real-time biofeedback for balance control.”<\/p>\n

Dr. Jaclyn Michael (Philosophy) has submitted an individual proposal requesting $6,000 from the National Endowment for the Humanities for the project entitled, “Performing India’s Muslims: Ethics, History, and the Politics of Belonging.”<\/p>\n

Charlie Mix and Nyssa Hunt (IGTLab) have requested $18,704 from the Enterprise Center for the project entitled, \u201cEdConnect Spatial Analysis & Cartography.”<\/p>\n

Drs. Abdelrahman Karrar and Ahmed Eltom (Electrical Engineering) have requested $105,143 from the Tennessee Valley Authority for the project entitled, “PSS Design & Tuning for TVA’s Transmission System Model.”<\/p>\n

Drs. Renee Murley, Kendra Duncan, and Krysta Murillo (School of Education) have requested $100,000 from the Tennessee Department of Education for the project entitled, “UTC TDOE Grow Your Own Competitive Grant.”<\/p>\n

Dr. Soubantika Palchoudhury (Civil and Chemical Engineering) has requested $44,646 from Archer Daniels Midland for the project entitled, “A new and sustainable analytical approach for assessing viscosity of cellulose structures using FTIR and SEM.”<\/p>\n

Drs. Soubantika Palchoudhury (Civil and Chemical Engineering) and Abdelrahman Karrar (Electrical Engineering) have requested $100,000 from the Tennessee Valley Authority for the project entitled, “A more sustainable and efficient hydrogen production with novel 2D photocatalytic chalcogenide nanosheets.”<\/p>\n

Drs. Donald Reising (Electrical Engineering) and Mina Sartipi (CUIP) have requested $95,475 from the Department of Energy via Oak Ridge National Laboratory for the project entitled, “A defense-in-depth approach to an autonomous, resilient, and secure power grid..”<\/p>\n

Dr. Donald Reising (Electrical Engineering) has requested $197,675 from the Tennessee Valley Authority for the project entitled, “Learning from Power Signals.”<\/p>\n

Drs. Donald Reising and Daniel Loveless (Electrical Engineering) has requested $434,569 from the Department of Defense via the National Reconnaissance Office for the project entitled, “Investigating Threats to SEI Based Intelligence-Gathering.”<\/p>\n

Dr. Joey Shaw (Biology, Geology, and Environmental Science) has requested $189,493 from the National Science Foundation for the project entitled, “Collaborative Research: Digitization TCN: Endemism and biotic interactions in the Interior Highlands, a region of exceptional biogeography.”<\/p>\n

Dr. Morgan Smith (Social, Cultural, and Justice Studies) has requested $326,560 from the Department of Commerce\u2019s National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration for the project entitled, “Identifying Submerged Pre-contact Archaeological Sites with Next-Generation Geophysics.”<\/p>\n

Drs. Khalid Tantawi, Ahad Nasab (Engineering Management and Technology), and Christopher Silver (LEAD) have requested $288,000 from the National Science Foundation for the project entitled, “Collaborative Research: Establishment of a Certification Exam in Tennessee for the Occupation Mechatronics Technician.”<\/p>\n

Dr. Jin Wang (Mathematics) has requested $115,861 from the Simons Foundation for the project entitled, “Advancing Mathematical Epidemiology.”<\/p>\n

Drs. Jin Wang (Mathematics) and Soubantika Palchoudhury (Civil and Chemical Engineering) have requested $137,500 from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases for the project entitled, “Investigating the dynamics and therapeutics for SARS-CoV-2 through an integrated computational and experimental approach.”<\/p>\n

Dr. Kristina Wick (School of Nursing) has requested $50,000 from the Tennessee Department of Health for the project entitled, “Community Vaccination Initiative.”<\/p>\n

Drs. Gary Wilkerson (Health & Human Performance) and Mina Sartipi (CUIP) have requested $14,717 from the University of Tennessee Research Foundation for the project entitled, “Smartphone App Improvements for Assessment of Cognitive Processing Efficiency.”<\/p>\n

Drs. Mengjun Xie (National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense) and Yu Liang (Computer Science and Engineering) have requested $402,897 from the National Science Foundation for the project entitled, “REU Site: SUCCESS: Engaging Undergraduates in Cybersecurity and Data Science for Smart Cities.”<\/p>\n

Dr. Sungwoo Yang (Civil and Chemical Engineering) has requested $49,975 from Constellation for the project entitled, “Solar Desalination Hand-On Experience for STEM Youths.”<\/p>\n
