Charlie Mix and Nyssa Hunt (IGTLab) have received $23,834 from the U.S. Department of Agriculture Forest Service for the project entitled, “Cherokee NF Road Digitizing using Lidar.”<\/p>\n

Charlie Mix and Nyssa Hunt (IGTLab) have received $18,704 from the Enterprise Center for the project entitled, \u201cEdConnect Spatial Analysis & Cartography.”<\/p>\n

Dr. Jared Pienkos (Chemistry & Physics) has received $55,000 from the American Chemical Society Petroleum Research Fund for the project entitled, “Exploiting Metallohinged Trans-bidentate ligands for Suzuki Coupling.”<\/p>\n

Dr. Mina Sartipi (CUIP) has received $55,083 from the City of Chattanooga for the project entitled, “Pedestrian Tracking.”<\/p>\n

Dr. Kristina Wick (School of Nursing) has received $50,000 from the Tennessee Department of Health for the project entitled, “Community Vaccination Initiative.”<\/p>\n

Drs. Mengjun Xie (National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense) and Daniel Pack (Electrical Engineering), in collaboration with Purdue University Northwest, have received $608,908 from the National Security Agency for the project entitled, “Establishing a Workforce Development Consortium for a Pilot AI-Cybersecurity Certification based National Training Program.”<\/p>\n

The following UTC faculty and staff have attracted emergency funds for COVID-19 relief:<\/em><\/strong><\/h4>\n

Tyler Forrest (Business & Financial Affairs) has received an additional $5,449 from the U.S. Department of Education for the project entitled, “UTC Emergency Funds under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act.”<\/p>\n

Dr. Laurie Allen (Arts-Based Collaborative) has requested $2,999 from the Arts and Humanities Council of Tuscaloosa for the project entitled, “Professional Development Sessions for Ruth O’Connor.”<\/p>\n

Drs. Michael Danquah (Civil and Chemical Engineering) and Mohammad Mahtabi (Mechanical Engineering) have submitted a preliminary proposal to PepsiCo for the project entitled, “Biodegradable bijel-inspired packaging technology for dry foods.”<\/p>\n

Dr. Michael Danquah (Civil and Chemical Engineering) has requested $291,170 from the National Science Foundation for the project entitled, “IRES Track I: US-NZ collaborative research exchange on food innovation for sustainable future.”<\/p>\n

Drs. Jennifer Ellis (School of Education), Elizabeth Crawford (LEAD), Lani Gao (Mathematics), Mina Sartipi (CUIP), Yunye Shi , Kidambi Sreenivas (Mechanical Engineering), Chandra Ward (Social, Cultural, and Justice Studies), Dalei Wu (Computer Science and Engineering), and Charlie Mix (IGTLab) have requested $499,522 from the National Science Foundation for the project entitled, “Using Smart Cities to Create Convergence in Graduate Education.”<\/p>\n

Drs. Lingju Kong and John Graef (Mathematics) have requested $431,958 from the National Science Foundation for the project entitled, “Collaborative Research: RUI: Dynamics of Online Social Networks.”<\/p>\n

Dr. Daniel Loveless (Electrical Engineering), in collaboration with Purdue University, has requested $386,250 from the Department of the Army for the project entitled, “2020 SCALE Consortium – Radiation-Hard Microelectronics Workforce Development Consortium.”<\/p>\n

Charles Mix and Nyssa Hunt (IGTLab) have requested $11,480 from Tennessee Valley Authority for the project entitled, “TVA Recreation Asset GIS Inventory Phase II.”<\/p>\n

Dr. Daniel Pack (Electrical Engineering), in collaboration with New Mexico State University, has requested $320,172 from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration for the project entitled, “Energy-Aware Autonomy for Safe and Sustainable Operation of Electric Aerial Vehicles.”<\/p>\n

Drs. Eleni Panagiotou (Mathematics) and Hamdy Ibrahim (Mechanical Engineering) have requested $62,486 from the U.S. Department of Energy via Oak Ridge National Laboratory for the project entitled, “Topological Materials.”<\/p>\n

Rachel Reese (Art) has requested $24,997 from ArtsBuild for the project entitled, “Home\/.”<\/p>\n

Drs. Mina Sartipi (CUIP) and Don Reising (Electrical Engineering) have submitted a preliminary proposal to the U.S. Department of Energy for the project entitled, “Adoption of High Impact Energy Conservation Measures through Crosscutting Modeling, Prediction & Optimization for Low Income Housing & Government Facilities.”<\/p>\n

Drs. Mina Sartipi (CUIP) and Osama Osman (Civil and Chemical Engineering) have requested $89,936 from the U.S. Department of Energy via Oak Ridge National Laboratory for the project entitled, “Traffic State Estimation, Detection, and Prediction for City-Level Energy Efficient Operation.”<\/p>\n

Dr. Anthony Skjellum (SIMCenter) has requested $30,000 from the U.S. Department of Energy via Sandia National Lab for the project entitled, “ATSE Spack 2020-2021.”<\/p>\n

Drs.
