{"id":31,"date":"2017-08-29T22:07:28","date_gmt":"2017-08-29T22:07:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogarchive.utc.edu\/rik-hunter\/?page_id=31"},"modified":"2025-01-14T05:25:39","modified_gmt":"2025-01-14T10:25:39","slug":"about-2","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/blogarchive.utc.edu\/rik-hunter\/","title":{"rendered":"About"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I teach pretty much anything related to writing and technology but, most recently, digital cultures and public writing in the English department at The University of Tennessee\u2014Chattanooga.<\/p>\n<p>I served as the English Graduate Program Director for 6.5 years, and I have previously held administrative\/faculty positions as the Director of Rhetoric Across the Curriculum and Co-Director of the Learning Commons at Quest University Canada as well as Co-Director of the major in Digital Cultures &amp; Technologies at St. John Fisher College.<\/p>\n<p>My research interests include community writing, collaborative writing, new media, fan studies, and authorship and audience. My work has appeared in <a href=\"http:\/\/licsjournal.org\/OJS\/index.php\/LiCS\/article\/view\/51\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Literacy and Composition Studies<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/science\/article\/pii\/S8755461510001027\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Computers &amp; Composition<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/casit.bgsu.edu\/cconline\/ciwic_dmac\/hunter-et-al\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Computers and Composition Online<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/kairos.technorhetoric.net\/21.1\/topoi\/mueller-et-al\/index.html\">KAIROS<\/a>, and <a href=\"http:\/\/[http:\/\/www.macmillanhighered.com\/catalog\/static\/bsm\/lore-fa03\/digressions\/content.htm?dis03\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">LORE<\/a>. My current scholarly interest is graduate studies in English.<\/p>\n<p>Other past jobs include working as the Assistant Factory Foreman on an Alaskan fishing boat and serving in the U.S. Army as a Persian-Farsi military intelligence \u201cvoice and signal communications interceptor and analyst.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In addition to my studies at UW-Madison (PhD 2010), I was also a student at Northern Michigan University (BFA 96; BS,02; MA, 04), where I studied Art and Design (drawing; painting; graphic design; film and digital video production) and English (creative writing and composition). I used to spend a lot of time on the trails of the U.P. and along the shores of Lake Superior XC skiing, mountain biking and hiking.
